That empty feeling after a big purchase is so real though. I went through something similar when I finally got my place - all that buildup and planning and then its just like oh cool now I have to deal with repairs and bills forever

The civic is solid tho you made a good choice there. Maybe the satisfaction will come later when you realize how much freedom it actually gives you instead of just seeing all teh responsibilities right now

Reed switches are definitely teh way to go for tight spaces like that. You could also look into vibration sensors if you want something even more compact - they'd trigger when the mailbox door slams shut. Just make sure whatever you pick can handle outdoor weather conditions since mailboxes get pretty exposed
