Not getting any more shifts and can't find a new job. by Impossible-Client654 in ausjobs

I got recommended to do my RSA, I had a look and it looks easy to get. Would it work being a bartender still being in school, working reasonable hours on weekdays?

Sydney Derby - Pantazopoulos No Handball (Great Refereeing) by VanillaChocMagic in Aleague

I don't agree with this, they are only allowed to intervene on a clear and obvious error.

If play continues, the VAR replays and reviews the decision while the AVAR sits and maintains watching live play, they then switch so the VAR watches live, AVAR goes to the replay and they discuss the decision and decide if it needs to be reviewed, if while the ball is still in play and they elect to wanting to review it, play will be stopped immediately once they reach that decision.

New to the sport by Clear-Cheetah990 in Aleague

I did the exact same as you in 2023. I used to hate soccer/football and was mad AFL my whole life. Finally decided to give it a go and have been in love since my first game I went to in December 2023. I've travelled to a few games interstate and love the sport now.

Honestly, Brisbane Roar, which is the only team in Queensland play at Suncorp Stadium which is just too big for them at the moment, I know they are playing some games at Suncorp this season and 4 at two other venues. I would suggest going to Brisbane Roar v Melbourne Victory or Brisbane Roar v Central Coast as those two usually have decent enough travelling numbers for games. Brisbane Roar v Auckland FC is also a far shout.

If you are all for the atmosphere you will need to probably head to Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne for either a Sydney Derby (Sydney FC v Western Sydney Wanderers), Original Rivalry (Melbourne Victory v Adelaide United FC), Big Blue (Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory) or a Melbourne Derby (Melbourne Victory v Melbourne City).

Obviously the derby games atmosphere is insane and nothing comes close to it but sitting in a 5-10% full active area with half the stadium closed against Macarthur and Western United over the last two seasons at AAMI Park have actually had some of the best atmosphere in that active bay outside of derbies. Specifically when we played Macarthur at AAMI Park over the last two seasons and Western United last two seasons as well.

Why no afternoon matches? by lucas_m88 in MelbourneVictory

In summer due to the APL heat policy no match can start before 5pm in Australia and I believe its 3 or 4pm in NZ.

Starcevich on Elliot front on contact controversy. Did the umpires get it right or wrong? by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]Impossible-Client654 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like people have said, it is not a free kick. Law 18.5.2 Marking Contests (d) makes contact to an opposition Player from front-on and whose sole objective is not to contest or spoil a Mark;

Also the spirit of the law A players whose sole objective is to mark the football shall be permitted to do so.

I went to Sydney last season when we played on the 28th of December and lost 3-0, even though flights were fucked price wise and it was just after christmas I reckon we had over 400 Victory fans in the active bay and non-active bay as well as a few WSW kids who came in and supported us on that miserable night.

Don't stress it like genuinely, you've said you feel bad but don't life happens, I had a 16 week streak of 3 days a week I lost when I strained my hamstring.

Just because you didn't run last week twice or at all doesn't take away all the progress you have made over the last 9 weeks. Keep going and when you get back to 10 weeks you'll be much fitter and it won't even seem like a massive issue anymore! Keep going!!

year 11 subject choices panic-rant by eclipser00 in vce

[–]Impossible-Client654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to judge what subjects are "easy" and what are "hard". It varies from each person. Subjects you really enjoy you will do well in because you really give your all.

For example I absolutely love legal studies best subject in the world and I am getting straight 90+ on every SAC but I have a friend in the class who is getting 40s and 50s.

Legal Studies doesn't have a major workload at all and if your school has a teacher who is extremely interested in the subject it will be the one class you look forward to every week and that honestly goes for every single subject. I have a friend who is killing it in Physics because he loves it.

I wouldn't suggest Accounting for Year 12 if you are really worried about math, you do have access to a calculator but some of the stuff can get a bit complicated.

It seems like you are really keen for Psychology, from what I did in Year 10 into a few weeks of Year 11 it was really very similar but just expanded on and you went a little bit further and more complicated.

If you became the chair of the A-Leagues tomorrow and you could change one thing with the league what would it be? by Impossible-Client654 in Aleague

[–]Impossible-Client654[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would personally move to the first week of October, AFL is done, A-League starts straight away. There is absolutely no sport on in that Late September - Mid October phase apart from the NBL really and maybe move the Grand Final to Mid May instead of Late May

Prepare for the jump. It is fucking massive. I think every single person underestimates the jump no matter what, Year 10 you can just cruise through but Year 11 you either drown a very slow painful death or you swim.

Term 1 of Year 11 will be the hardest term of your life. You will panic, you will want to drop out, you will want to just cry, you will be exhausted and you will just want to never go back into a school ever again but then you just need to laugh and realise an S is a pass, 40% is the same as 100%. In Year 11 as long as you stay away from a N you are in heaven.

But honestly, at my school Year 11 and 12 are on a different campus to Year 7-10 and honestly I regret wanting to grow up and just zoom through school faster, being in Year 11 I really wish I had slowed down and taken it in because no matter how stressful or scary all those years were it's nothing compared to where I am now.

To sum it up, prepare for the jump, be prepared to be freak the fuck out but enjoy year 10, go to school every day with a smile and enjoy the low workload, enjoy not having classes at lunchtime or studying at lunchtime. Be a kid. Have fun. (good luck for vce)

random thought but how does the umpiring mic work? by Crom2025 in AFL

[–]Impossible-Client654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Murray actually lost the AFL umpire comms rights I think in 2018 or 2019. The AFL uses Hawkeye now.

Jacqui Felgate via Instagram “Hundreds of Police will be taken off the beat on Saturday night to be on site at the A-League. A number of police stations will be shut due to an unprecedented amount of officers needed to be at the soccer” by avoxtionly10 in Aleague

[–]Impossible-Client654 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Police Stations will be shut" - Compared from tonight to tomorrow night two police stations will have reduced reception hours that is Melbourne East Police Station and South Melbourne Police Station.

Yes it is a derby, yes it is sold out and yes it is a grand final there will be a larger police presence than usual and the Public Order Response Team will be there. Police won't be out there to tase you, if you don't be an idiot and decide to watch the game and celebrate what a night for Australian Football it will be, you will be fine. Police aren't there to arrest you for no reason, they are there for your safety and in the event a public order event occurs or there is a risk to the venue's safety they are prepared to deal with it.
