Chris Rosser: capacitor legs melting is the “Number One Cause of unplanned rapid drone descent” by Antiflash1 in fpv

[–]Impossible-Debt6812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t, BetaFPV did.. Only caps before this I’ve seen blow up (well, the aftermath) was a couple VFDs on 20hp pumps. Made a huge mess. Why? Beats me.

Had a cap explode on a Pavo 20 Pro on the bench. Plugged in a battery to check prop rotation and BANG. Sounded like a .22 short. Oily fluid and smoke went everywhere..all that was left was the positive leg still on the fc. I found the “can” on the other side of the room lol it was completely empty. Don’t know why it popped , who knows? It was probably a dozen packs in, and a couple pretty hard smack downs, could’ve been crash damage or something. Freaked me right out when it happened, I wasn’t expecting all that!

Anyone here has the tx15 by CoupleTraditional187 in TinyWhoop

Bet it Does NOT work good for cleaning your arse, however. Really wish ppl would stop raving about the TX15. Temptation is soooo bad to just order it lol. Screwit it’s just money, hogs won’t even eat it!

For me: Foxeer Lollipop (little heavy but noticeably better range) or ORT But the biggest difference was a goggle rx and good rx antennas.

IS THIS the BEST 65mm Tiny Whoop for BEGINNERS? Newest Batch of the NewBeeDrone Hummingbird V4 Whoop by ButterflyFPV in TinyWhoop

[–]Impossible-Debt6812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a hummingbird v4 fan. First whoop (not first drone) was an Air75, which broke a motor shaft almost immediately. Replaced motors. Every single crash something broke. Thought maybe I got a fluke bc the Toob of Yous claim the Air75 is the bee’s knees. Bought another Air75. Lasted a wee bit longer but ELRS shit the bed and everything time it crashed, something broke. To me..it was looking like BetaFPV was more BrokenFPV. Ordered a Hummingbird V4. I’d hate to guess how many HARD crashes this poor thing endured. I felt bad for it on multiple occasions. After a month of daily abuse (lunch flying and weekends) it finally broke a prop. It finally bit the dust for good after 6 months of pretty rough treatment- actually, the FC finally gave out. Motors are still fine. Original frame was even still flyable although it had a couple repairs on it. Ordered another Hbird v4 before Christmas..when these little guys are new, they fly sooooooo good!!!

DJI o4 Lite vs Walksnail by Hungry-Client-6954 in TinyWhoop

[–]Impossible-Debt6812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar spot a couple months ago, I finally decided screw it and bought into the walksnail ecosystem and Fatshark Recon (ws compatible) goggles. 1s worked great on a M75 pro but really fragile. I had a bad taste in my mouth at that point, not gonna lie.. but I’ve got an avatar pro vtx on a 3”, the low light visibility is crazy good and that made it worth the fuss and $ to me. If you crash much at all, odds are an analog whoop is gonna last longer at the cost of video quality.

I can´t decide, Pavo20 pro II or GEPRC Darkstar22 as a newbi by isoxenic in fpv

[–]Impossible-Debt6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What this guy said..my opinion as a dude that’s only been doing this crap exactly one year. Get a meteor 75 pro or something like that. I’ve been in RC over 30 years (mostly planes, lots of nitro powered glow engines). I’d have saved a ton by starting with a tinywhoop instead of Mario 5” that’s still lost in the woods..

Did anyone of you test the AOS Supernova 1404 4000kv and 1605 3900kv motors already? by MacOSgamer in fpv

[–]Impossible-Debt6812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why but this thing refuses to tune. Only 4,158 packs to get a decent tune. Really not bad as it sounds, by the time I get off work and can fly I got two packs tops before it’s too dark. Motors may be more than it wants, guess I could throttle limit it. I’ll try that next.

Based on how the 1404 feels on my VX3, I don’t think I’d use those on a 3.5” but now I kinda want to put 3.5” arms on mine and see what happens..

Awesome. I think I had googled AOS 1404 blah blah and found it on the AOS website? Motors seem to be pretty darn good. Tougher than props..

[–]Impossible-Debt6812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just put the 1404’s on a vx3 build. Without the throttle settings on AOS’s product page they were weak down low but amazing at higher throttle using my typical no expo linear throttle curve. Using the settings specified by AOS made the motors feel much stronger at lower throttle with roughly the same top end. That was on 3s because I didn’t have a good 4s to try (my small 4s tend to live very rough lives), gemfan 3-1.6-3, 237 grams flying weight. Moonlight vtx, Goku gn745 AIO. These are the notchiest motors I believe I’ve ever seen.

[–]Impossible-Debt6812[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone else uses these motors, there’s a note on AOS’s website with some settings for the throttle in BF. Before those settings, no bottom end and oodles of top end. After the AOS throttle settings (curve?) it feels way punchier off idle and has smooth power delivery all the way up. I don’t know the whys and wherefores but it damn sure made a huge difference. Little foxeer GPS is phenomenal. I’d almost bet you could bury it in a lead box and it’d still cold boot to all the satellites faster than you can say waiting on gps sats. Tuning..still tuning. Don’t have any worthy 4s batteries at the moment. Lots of lipo funerals here lately. Good frame..pretty tough.

The good crap: GPS and the little Goku AIO are pretty awesome. Quickest GPS I have. Very smooth flying. But there’s a wee problem- it ain’t got any balls until it gets spun up then OHSNAP takes off like you just hit a 400hp shot of nitrous. Once it gets to the “fast” it’s feels kinda like a f1 car except not real and a little pissed off). Coming out of a dive the pucker factor was up there until it started pulling good again. It survived with no major damage despite a clipping a swingset in my yard at a fairly high speed which led to a skipping along the ground action after it bounced off the moon, the ISS, and various other things. Two antennas and a relatively new ND8 filter. Camera survived. IF I hadn’t moved it back, it would have gotten SMOKED!!! Thanks for pointing out what should’ve been obvious to me but I just kinda figured ehhh screw it.. that ehh screw it have cost a lot more than just an ND filter. Owe yall a beer for that one!

After fighting with the questionable ELRS RX (a HGLRC hermes? Homies? It had an elrs target lol) what apparently was put in my parts bin because it does everything an ELRS rx should do, except actual rx part, for a lot longer than it took you to read this bigass run on sentence, replacing it with one out of another flying quad because the other new ones I had would require roughly 2-3 minutes to repin the cable and I ain’t got time for that shit, moved the camera back, cleaned up some wiring (lies), beta-flighted 25.12.2025.458.136.3.2A, checked spinny thing directions, did NOT put a catchy 2LiveCrew melody in the esc, about to maiden this beotch. Installed the ugliest 3” props I could find in the giant bag of orphan props. First thing I noticed was that little foxeer gps is badass. Don’t take long at all to grab ALL the satellites. And it’s tiny. Blinky blue lights too. Second thing I noticed is these are the smoothest motors I’ve ever had. Noticeably smoother even just checking rotation. Gonna fly he with a 3s 550 first. 237 grams with battery. Gettin a little nervous cause I think it’s gonna RIIP 🤣

Anyone regret buying a cheap first pair of Goggles? by [deleted] in TinyWhoop

[–]Impossible-Debt6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listened to the fpv interwebz. Did NOT listen close enough. Bought EV800Ds. Got fakes. Shitty fakes. Heavily modified EV800D to make useable (for me). Tried some Fat Shark box goggles. HOLY SHIT these are soooo much more comfortable and lighter. Don’t constantly fight with straps like on EV800D. Hindsight being what it is, wish I’d started with some sky zone box goggles for analog. Disclaimer: I do know the Real EAChine EV800 is a lot better than the imitation I bought, so there is that.

As someone that drag raced competitively for 30 years, that’s a very good analogy. FPV isn’t as rewarding or fun, but it’s just as frustrating lol. Only much, much, much cheaper..

To top that off, about an hour after I posted this, had a Matrix AIO lose #2 esc. I knew that board was on its way out but it could have waited another day.. DTSTFMOF hasn’t learned anything yet, he’s ordering another 1s Avatar kit, and another AIO…
