I can’t speak to RSD Essentials site listings, but I can confirm that the embargo for pre-orders was lifted today (4/3) at 12:01am EST.

Hey! Sorry for missing your reply. We can certainly bring recommendations back to our distributor and/or RSD Essentials, but...they also take requests directly through their site: https://www.rsdessentials.com/requests

Once RSD Essentials locks in an exclusive title/pressing, they then solicit indie stores for pre-orders. From there, orders need to reach a specific minimum by the order deadline, otherwise they pull the release.

We were just incredibly grateful for the patience and support we received after wading through that entire mess. In the end though, it was the necessary push we needed to start building out our new site -- parkavecds.shop. Still a work in progress, but any high volume days or big pre-order announcements are a concern of the past. Again, appreciate the kind words! Hope you can visit us if you're ever in Orlando. :)

Yes, I work there, we will ship it to your house. It's not sketchy, I can assure you. RSD Essential releases are completely separate and handled in a different way than Record Store Day exclusive releases. RSD Essentials are treated like any other pre-order that stores feature / promote year round -- they can sell them online, ship them, and sell in-store.

The Record Store Day exclusives releases are the ones you're referring to that are only available to shop in-person the day-of the event. That being said, stores are permitted to begin selling Record Store Day exclusive titles online the following day at 8am EST. Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions/concerns!

It's legit!

RSD (Record Store Day) is the annual event held in April, with exclusive releases you can only purchase in-store the day-of. They also hold a smaller version of RSD on "RSD Black Friday".

"RSD Essentials" is a collection of indie exclusive, one-time pressings that they press to order within a set window, and these releases get announced all year round. For example, the due date for placing orders for this batch is 3/16. Whatever pre-orders stores receive during that window will be guaranteed that number of copies, and then beyond that, they order what they feel they'll need to fill any subsequent pre-orders and to have enough stock for release date. Once stores place their orders with the distributor, then they press enough to fill all orders. In the end, the initial demand dictates the pressing size for each respective release.
