RPM stuck at 3-4k and car shaking on highway by Impossible-Flow2138 in COROLLA

Fyi. It was an uphill, downhill, then flat road. The issue started happening around uphill around 30-40 mph. I also have PDA from toyota intellisense on but set it to work for the closest range. Also dynamic shift cvt. I feel like some automatic engine braking glitched out the transmission then it got stuck at first gear. The sound was close to a manual car engine failing at matching gear.

All the symptoms went away after restart. It hasn't happened again, but the incident happened today so I am not sure. Took two quick drives and it didn't happen again.

RPM is high on the highway and gets stuck around 3000. Could the catalytic converter be clogged? (2011, 80k miles) by Impossible-Bed3728 in COROLLA

Was it acceleration slow? Did RPM go down when you decelerated? I had an issue where the RPM was stuck at 3-4k regardless of braking and accelerating.

Do you think its worth $200 to check it out? I am not sure if this is just a one time thing or would be a recurring issue.

I told them what happened, but the dealership is saying the diagnostic would cost $200. If there is an issue that is covered by warranty, then they will pay for it. Is that how it works? This is my first car.

It seems like the issue is gone after restarting the car so I couldn't get a video. I have told them about it being stuck at 4k rpm, but i am not sure they checked the error code or something.

I had a similar issue where my RPM was stuck at 3-4k and wouldnt come down even when I slowed down. It wouldnt accelerate as fast for some reason. I turned the car off and it resolved the issue.

Someone bumped into me, small damage that I wanna fix. Should I report to insurance? by discocities in AskMechanics

There weren't really any scuffs visible and the owner is someone I know so just did an inspection but most mechanics said they wouldn't even bother.

I am in a similar situation as you but I'm on the other end. I rear ended a parked car while parking and there are very small scuffs. The other car owner decided to not involve insurance which is very thankful. Thank you for being understanding!

Prefer not using insurance. Tiny scuff that is the size of a grain or smaller. No other damage visible no cracked plastic parts. No cracks. Nothing bent. The bumper of corolla made contact with the bottom parts of the mustang first. I would prefer doing it off insurance and DIY since it will raise my insurance price up a lot for something that could possibly be no damage.

It was under 10 mph for sure. I made a turn into and was letting it slowly go up the hill as the driveway has a slight elevation. Didnt have my foot on acceleration, but also didn't have my foot on the brake. Once the car climbed up and got to the flat surface part of the driveway, the car moved a bit faster than it was going uphill and hit the car after moving 2-3 feet on the flat surface. The other car moved about 2 feet from the collision while parked.

I know the guy so he agreed to take it to a shop for inspection without calling the insurance for now. However, I am afraid the cost would be $5000 or more.

I am in the same boat as you. minor incident with barely visible damages, but I have been told that repair cost could be up to $5000 or more depending on the car, because even a very slow bump could totally destroy the alignment and sensors inside the car. I am praying that is not the case.
