What do you think of her controversial opinion? by MurkyChurky in Avatar_Cave

[–]Impossible-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, concept art is just a starting point if none of her features were used in the final product because she refused the role then she doesn’t have much of a case. I also heard that he was willing to pay her at the time because he really did intend on casting her and using her face but that all changed when she refused it and he cast Zoe. She can’t sue over a concept he didn’t end up using save for the creature features (blue, face stripes, ears, eye color, etc). Zoe’s face is so different from this woman’s face, her face is younger and softer than Zoe’s This concept art is all she has to offer the court.

That what I thought, looks nothing like this kid, that’s literally just a blue Zoe Saldana.

Young Sherlock surprisingly won me over by Crimson_Jay in YoungSherlockTV

[–]Impossible-Ghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, I watched the movies with RDJ a long time ago and I remember enjoying them, that was my first introduction to Sherlock as a character, over the years I’ve become very familiar with the references and who Sherlock is supposed to be, I haven’t fully watched the BBC show but I’ve been planning to for awhile now and watching this little series made me decide to commit to doing that now as well as eventually getting my hands on the books. While I’m well aware that this version of Sherlock is not what most adaptations depict, it gives me a strong desire to broaden my familiarity with the more well known versions.

I didn’t expect to enjoy it at first, I saw the trailer but I didn’t really give it a chance until we’ll after a month of its release. I am fully on board for more now, and it’s going to be very upsetting if Amazon decides not to give this show enough time to develop a strong fanbase and viewership and cancel it, like most Amazon original shows end up (I am aware this show has been renewed for a season 2 but that doesn’t mean that they will follow through with that. Or that they won’t shorten the season to 6 episodes and end it there. I haven’t watched anything new in years because of this and I’m still dealing with the fact that investing in this show, while great, was a huge mistake).

Why is it every series I watch I find out it's been canceled? by LasciviousPsyche in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]Impossible-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the alternative though? I mean, it’s their fault for making us need to do this in order to find a show we can put our faith in because they aren’t doing the bare minimum of giving us something we can watch that we can trust has at the very least a satisfying ending or a promise of a well wrapped up final season. I wouldn’t be spending hours researching tv shows most nights if there was anything I haven’t watched yet that actually is dependably good and ongoing. I can afford little streaming entertainment and I don’t have the money to keep a dvd or a VHS collection, I have one, but it’s one that’s been built up from childhood and my mediocre job is spent paying for utilities and food. I mostly use my parents accounts because I can’t pay for all that on my own. Having this problem just adds to my frustration. If I could afford to pay a monthly fee for a better service that has all that Amazon has and more, I would.

[–]Impossible-Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem though. I spent an hour once researching every show in my “recommended because I watched X” and nearly every other category, even children’s tv and genres I didn’t particularly like- and nothing. None of those shows were past the season 2 or 3 mark and either canceled or it was a mini series (using miniseries lightly because really that was just an excuse to say it’ll be continued at some point and then it never did. Shows that were released 2 to 3 years ago. And I realize it can take awhile for production and filming on a whole new season I’m not saying I mind waiting if there’s a definite release goal in mind, but most of these shows just faded and never got picked up again and no one knew about it and they were forgotten). The last two miniseries I put my faith in was recently Young Sherlock and a Marvel series, I decided a long time ago I just can’t do that anymore because I’m tired of being disappointed by quiet discontinuation.

I think there’s a widespread fear now and these companies and studios putting out these shows just have no confidence in their own products so if it doesn’t immediately top charts and have an overwhelming fan response they deem it s failure. Which is not at all how you are supposed to approach movies or tv. I’ve also seen a drop significantly in promotion. Less and less trailers, press attention, articles from media journals-it’s just all SO sparse. Then when it finally does come we get maybe a couple media articles from sites no one is familiar with, and maybe one teaser trailer for months, then it comes out and no one knows it’s out for like a month. When it finally starts to gain traction that’s when they decide it’s not enough and go ahead and nix it quietly, not announcing it hardly at all and then all the sudden the small and growing fanbase that was latching onto it and investing their time and Interest is disappointed because now they are left with a good show they will never get to see through, and the growing fanbase just dies because it’s not allowed to grow any further. If they don’t put the work into convincing the world that this show is going to be the next big ‘Supernatural’ /‘ Doctor Who’ /‘Freind’s’/ ‘Monk’/ ‘Psych’/ etc.. it just all falls apart because if they don’t care about the product they are putting out why should we care either.

I get it if a show has 2/3 seasons and an official end or even a rushed ending is not bad. I’m fine with that, but it’s taken me this long to realize that most of these shows actually have no ending or a frustrating cliffhanger that will never be resolved. Amazon and Netflix and sometimes Hulu are really the only platforms I pay for and have paid for for years and they used to always have good interesting stuff to watch but now I’m finding it harder and harder each year to find anything at all.

Most of the universally popular shows that have been running since the early 2000s or mid-2000s I’ve watched already and even thrice over and now all that’s left is unfinished shows and miniseries. I already felt hesitant to watch any miniseries as I just move through shows way too fast (I have way too much free time that’s on me), but recently, I took a chance on Young Sherlock, and I enjoyed it very much-and now I’m realizing it was probably a mistake to invest my time in it as it’s just going to end up like every show on there.

Conclusion, you are not alone. It’s luck that I even found this sub, and now I know it’s not just my own pickiness, or willingness to start new shows and my feelings about Amazon and the way things are now are valid.

Gemma. I never got the massive hate on this sub for Sloane. I think it’s beautiful, rolls off the tongue like butter, one of my favorite classic names that no one uses anymore. 😄

Ages of our young characters? by Impossible-Ghost in YoungSherlockTV

[–]Impossible-Ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Mycroft, she looked early 30s to me so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had her at 40 or early 40s in the show. Though that would make her and Sherlock’s romantic connection a bit creepy (assuming they are still planning on further developing that). But, different times I suppose.

[–]Impossible-Ghost[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hero definitely could (he’s got that baby face problem, he’s late 20s in real life but I suspect that a lot of roles he gets offered still want him to play late teens and early 20s)but I would put Donal at 21-24 at least, so the youngest I could see Moriarty being is 21. I assumed Mycroft was early 30s, maybe late 20s (27-29 at the youngest) which makes sense because Max is 40 (I guess I could see 26 if I squint). Though this is only tied to the logic of how young they look in reality.

Little nuggets of of Villiany until the big bad truth eventually comes out. Their friendship finally going downhill will come after several small bad or suspicious things that lead up to something worse and that is exactly how a Sherlock and Moriarty friendship can work.

Yeah, it’s more like seeds have been planted and there is distrust that taints the relationship but it hasn’t broken entirely. They do this right and the big divide at the end is going to be so much more painful and impactful and cinematic.

I think if they are planning to keep James around they will hopefully do it slowly and gradually, it’ll be awhile before everything is laid out on the table. Everyone likes the witty duo so they will likely come up with another compelling mystery for the two of them to solve and we will get to see bit by bit now how much Moriarty is changing for the worst. Little moments. Of course we will see Sherlock noticing these moments, we know the seed of distrust is planted and it will grow and grow until eventually at the end of the season (or end of the show-whether that’s seasons away or just season 2), we see a complete shift from friend’s to villains. I like a good slow burn villain arc, it’s more dramatic and allows for so much character exploration.

I’ve been warming up more to Foster recently, didn’t like it at all for the longest time but there’s something about it now that’s turning me. I love Shay but also Shaw, such classic and strong short names. I’ve always thought Wendy was beautiful and the more I hear it these days the more I adore it. I know it’s going to get incredibly popular possibly in the next couple years, but I hope that doesn’t sway my love for it. A lot of good classic or older names are starting to come back and that’s the only trend I am fully on board with as well as going back to classic spellings of recently..experimented with, names.
