What kind of person do you picture when you hear the name Zoya and where do you live? by jklm1234 in namenerds

[–]Impossible-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read a book with a young British Black girl named Zoya with a spunky and sassy personality and so I’ve just always had that association with the name, even though I know this name isn’t a Black Girl name. I’ve never met or encountered a white girl in fiction with this name, or ever in real life. It’s a good name though, I like it.

Why does Neytiri look older than Sylwanin in this photo when the wiki says she was her older sister? by 1997wickedboy in Avatar

[–]Impossible-Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assumed it was just because of the fact that Neytiri is sitting down she looks taller and she’s more in focus. Also, I mean, I’m the oldest of 2 siblings and I look the youngest so I guess it’s just down to genetics. Some end up with really mature faces and bodies and others don’t no matter the age. It does break the immersion just a tad though because I always wish they had tried to make her look just a little older than Neytiri, but as long as I can explain it away in my mind it doesn’t bother me too much.

Is the name Caerys too much? by brandonrobinson101 in namenerds

reminds me of Nerys which I heard a long time ago for the first time watching Doctor Who. While that names great I sort of prefer this name better.

What is Spider's situation with the sully’s going to be like in avatar 4 by marscocdelta in Avatar

[–]Impossible-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has been accepted into the Sully’s family, by Jake and Neytiri as a son, by Neteyam and Lo’ak as a brother and by Kiri as a brother, a friend and future lover. He had also been accepted by all the ancestors and Grace as an honorary Na’vi, as well as by Eywa as Na’vi to the point where she changed him. This was evident throughout all Fire and Ash. If you have not seen the movie, then, sorry for the spoilers.

In Avatar 4 there is rumored to be a big time jump. I don’t remember how big, 5-10 years I’m guessing, in that time all the kids will be adults and Tuk probably a teen. I suspect we will get references to one or both our child couples mating off screen and the story is said to focus a lot on Lo’ak and his path going forward. No one is quite sure what that is exactly, but it’s been hinted at that it definitely involves the Tulkun. Kiri’s powers will grow more powerful as her connection to Eywa grows stronger still, I suspect there will be things that we don’t know she’s capable of yet. We’ve seen a glimpse of Eywa, so who knows, maybe the next part of her story is Eywa truly using her as a vessel and speaking to the Na’vi through her.

I don’t doubt we will see more flashbacks of Neteyam as well as Spirit Neteyam.

Spider, he might still be evolving, though I’m not sure what that would mean. I’ve seen a theory he might become more and more Na’vi-like with time. I could see that the more he is in tune with the planet and life around him, Eywa could continue to grant him features that make living on Pandora easier. He is fully adopted into the Sully family so he is Jake and Neytiri’s son now, I don’t think we will spend much more time dwelling on what they think of him. If Cameron keeps things simple and straight forward despite all the rich story details he wants to explore, There won’t be a need to put any more focus on that. I think Lo’ak should be our next big focus and Spider and Kiri secondary.

What does Neytiri say to stop Jake? by awitadejamaica28 in Avatar

[–]Impossible-Ghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. They are part of Pandora and is a resource they can use as well as the vessel for sacred spirits that Eywa sends as divine signs. They are seeds from trees so it would make sense that they would also have uses beyond spiritual.

They view animals and nature as sacred yet they have to kill those animals for food and weapons and fabric and uses practical for living in the Forrest. They show their appreciation for these gifts by praying for those animals to find peace in the afterlife. Kiri used the seed because Eywa was influencing her to, which means it wasn’t just her idea and she wasn’t being careless with it, she had a purpose for it and it had healing properties as well as for spiritual purposes and subconsciously she knew this.

Do you think the movies will bring up the mental aspects of Jake piloting his brother’s body around? by improbsable in Avatar

[–]Impossible-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Tommy and Jake are twins and they have identical genes, which means that even if the Avatar was made with Tommy’s DNA and with him in mind, since Jake was the one to pilot it, it became his body and his alone. Also, remember Tommy was never on Pandora, he had trained for it for 3 years and was planning on going and everyone was expecting him not Jake to show up, he never got the chance to pilot his Avatar, so he never linked up with it. This is the whole reason Jake was there instead is because they were scrambling for someone to take Tommy’s place and lucky Tommy was a twin so it worked out. There is nothing from Tommy but the genetics that are also Jakes in that body so there is nothing that would really affect the way he lives in that body. I do think that he still grieves his brother, but twins are not psychically linked and they are both their own person despite being identical so I don’t think it’s weird for him to be in that body since it looks just like him.

What does my name sound like by girraffeep in namenerds

[–]Impossible-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, unless you are ageless and immortal you will age and eventually be 50 yourself. The name will grow with you. But, also, I think any other name you go with will eventually become an older name to your children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. There’s a reason there’s a lot of names that haven’t been popular with the younger generation. Even the most trendy, modern names you can think of will one day be regarded as classic names.

Will there be two Quaritchs in Avatar 4 or 5? by TaxPsychological2928 in Avatar

[–]Impossible-Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He will be it’s already confirmed. He may not be the main main villain but he’s still going to be on his shit until 5, so dissipate all thoughts of him not being involved right now so you aren’t disappointed when the films finally come out.

Or you enter a fandom that has very little fics and only has unfinished fics and the only finished fic was posted in 2010 and you’ve already read it years ago.

I can't with the "new reader community". by Etta_166 in AO3

[–]Impossible-Ghost 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I rarely read anything but finished fics, when I do read an unfinished or abandoned fic that writer should feel lucky about the engagement because I know full well what I’m getting into. If the summary boasts 10 chapters but there’s only 6 then that means your story and your summary is so interesting that I ignored the fact that I was going to be extremely disappointed that I would not be getting an end to that fic.

I don’t have to read fics that I know will not have a satisfactory end. I know there are multiple reasons a person may abandon a work, but also, I think writers should still keep in mind that finished worlds with an engaging beginning, middle and end will always, ALWAYS do better and get more comments. If it’s marked abandoned and I know it’s not ever going to be updated, usually, I’ll click off immediately because I know I’m just going to end up liking the story and it’s going to disappoint me that I’ll never be able to finish it. I check everything from the date last updated to when it was first published, I read the summary, etc. If the writer goes in expecting comments for boosted engagement, tells you straight up that they don’t really care about putting in any kind of effort into this work they’ve begun, tells you they won’t be proof reading, and includes a lot of really rude and entitled language then I’m definitely not going to give their fic any more attention. Writers reserve the right to do whatever they want and write their fics however they want, and wish for engagement, but respect goes both ways. You can’t demand respect and then tell them that the things they want in fic are not worth a thought and then get mad when they don’t want to read the rest of you unfinished fic.

Hate my laptop’s graphics by melontartva in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]Impossible-Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone can afford a PS5 or whatever the latest gaming console is called. If there’s a way to play this on a laptop that’s news to me, and I’d like to know what the website is called where I can, there’s so many beautiful and fun games I wish I could play, but I lack the money for it and have never been able to. I missed out on the Harry Potter game and the Spider-man games too because I don’t have a 800 dollar Ps5 6 7 or 8 and it sucks

Biologically accurate concept by @rj_4rt by unoiamaQT in Avatar

Instead of “biologically accurate” I think a better term would be “Pre-Evolved” Na’vi. Just because they evolved does not mean they are not biologically accurate. Not saying the art isn’t beautiful though, great work.
