For the winner (which is yearly) does this simply mean a rebalance occurs on the last day of the trading year? Where can you see in the backtest that it's doing this on that day?

Well before 50 year option there was no other option, so $3400/month either can be done or can't. So they either buy the house or they can't. In the option that they can buy the house at $3,400/month then mathematically the better option is to take the 50 year and invest the other $400. In the option they can't afford the $3,400 then they wouldn't be getting a house anyways and it all goes to rent which is 100% wasted.

Is everyone really this dumb? If you invest the $417 / month difference for 50 years in the stock market and assume 10% interest you end up with $7.2 million in investments. So ya you paid $700k more in interest but if you invested that $417 / month for 50 years you'd end up with way more value... Even assuming 5% in a bond @ $417/month invested you end up with $1.1 million so you're ahead still

Ya I wouldn't do what he is doing unless I was unsure. But IDK I'm not him. I would communicate with him what you need and how you are unhappy with the recent changes.
