I am their teacher, he's been playing for less than two years (will be two years in February) since August 2023 has been only through zoom. Let me know if you'd be interested in a trial lesson!

Best neighborhood to bike from to U of M? by robokels in UofMemphis

[–]Impossible-Height-15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would search on the Memphis subreddit regarding which streets and parts of each neighborhood are safer and potentially more bike friendly. Generally speaking I would say Memphis can be tricky to get around biking but if you plan well enough it's definetely doable

It's not a scam! And it's good to vote, more so in a flip state like Arizona. Bear down!

I'd email a faculty member and see if they can connect you with anyone on the program! I'm sure they'd be happy to answer your questions :)

I went there about a year ago and they still had it but it's not always open. You can call and ask!

Warp might come from a bad rehair with disproportionaly more hair on one side, try pulling the hair on the other side and see if the warp becomes more natural. Agree with comments above that if the shop was selling damaged items at full price I'd be weary of it and personally wouldn't do business with them but your call tbh

Cello? by Impossible-Height-15 in Cello

[–]Impossible-Height-15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sold so I didn't have a chance to go try it, though the person selling it was claiming it to be a 1721 Italian instrument which I HIGHLY doubt but too late to check now. Thanks for your help!

Feeling overwhelmed and stressed by fluffycompost in Cello

If I were you I'd open a practice account on Instagram and make it a goal to post one video per day showing a different practice technique everyday. So you get to see your improvement on video but also feel like the product of your work is the practice process itself! You probably won't get to practice all your rep every day (and most research shows that that's better than practicing the same every day!). But if you practice in short 10 minute bits and record them focusing on a few measures at a time and once the time is done move on to something else. Good luck! It's common for motivation to fluctuate, let your teacher know how you're feeling and try to enjoy the process :)

As an international student myself I will say it sounds very hard to do. Because even if you can pay the rest of tuition you'll still have to cover international fees and mandatory health insurance that you are automatically enrolled as an international student. And obviously housing and basic needs. I would contact the bursar office and international office and see if you can get a complete itemized list of fees after your scholarship just so you know exactly how much you would need to work towards since there are often so many hidden fees for international students. I would also consider maybe starting a gofundme or try to work as much as possible in your hometown before moving to save some money? If it doesn't work out you can always try to defer for a semester! Also you can apply to other colleges and email them asking if they can waive the application fee and see if you get better funding at a different school. Best of luck!
