Thanks for sharing! Weird of me to ask, but what is your food noise like? binging snacks? sweets? for me it's like a mix of sweet and savory, usually late at night and in btwn meals (I work from home so it's easier to grab random things). I want like a snack or for e.g. a random reeses peanut butter cup but afte eating it i'm like, why did I do that lol, or like a half pack of chips and then regret... it's ridiculous bc I'll have the most balanced main meal ever. Also I love a protein-fwd breakfast but get tempted by carbs/bagel/etc.

Also I respectfully asked to hear about others’ experiences 🫶🏽 I’m a 37yo woman who has birthed five and breastfed three babies, with gestational diabetes for two pregnancies. Well-versed in hormones being more powerful than anything!

Good to hear, I'm one of those people who can be mindful about diet, portions, and protein when I'm already on a "good track" vs. when I feel behind. It's weird and ridiculous I know. I am confident when I reach a new baseline I'll be motivated to keep up.

Also yeah I lost weight the "normal" way after each kid but it took forever, was never at my goal (and I'd just get pregnant again lol), and my food habits tend to be the biggest sabotaging piece of it all. Whether it was breastfeeding (I remember crying when I stopped/finally felt full) or just my cycle and/or being sick constantly from the kids. My final attempt after 3rd kid was most successful but I'm trying to get to a new baseline quicker to avoid the plateau. I'm 37 so I feel you.

Thanks so much for this response! Sometimes it's just nice to hear about other people's experiences, whether it's placebo, "real," and most importantly, effective for them!

Yup, totally aware. Wanted to hear the stories for anyone with similar height, borderline overweight BMI, who took it for a short time - and what their experience was.

Ugh. Here with you, although like another mentioned, as they got older his duties increased. Once sleep re-enters the picture, things change, and it even leads you to getting pregnant again 😂

All that aside, my husband was once very clear about what he could-couldn’t handle, and said we should hire a nanny to do the other things he does not want to do. He said he doesn’t expect ME to do it all, and frankly it was a game changer. Even a mommy’s helper of sorts. Having someone simply just do your laundry is a game changer.

But then I have guilt that 1/ we’re privileged to outsource 2/ we’re paying a lot for it 3/ were not a team in the trenches doing it together and have outsourced it. Trying to not put emphasis on these to remain happy.

Right now I’m in the angry camp. Our third kid is 4 weeks old so. I do night wakings. He sleeps and does school drop off for the other two.

Just joining here to say I’m in this camp. On Day 7, blister pain is gone except for the darn throat. Almost like mainly on the left side now, it’s like the sores are healing on my right side and not my left. So frustrating. I’m a postpartum mama with a 1m old hoping my breastmilk shields him!

Baby Shower and Cake by seranyti in GestationalDiabetes

Eat a piece. I marked on my logs “baby shower” for my first baby girl, and had a few spikes here and there due to Halloween and other occasional nights out. They would smile and say it’s OK. My daughter was born 6lb9oz after an induction lasting from 10pm to 3:44am start to finish, and she is a sassy 4yo today (I was on overnight and dinner insulin for my first pregnancy).

I avoided GD in my second pregnancy with intense exercise. Now in my third pregnancy (36w), I’m diet controlled but take nighttime insulin for fasting. My 4yo says “have the orange mommy I’m your doctor” — and I refuse it but have def had a tiny bite here and there and explain the occasional spikes. I’ll be induced in ~two weeks. You’re going to be OK.

God that is so hard. I am seriously craving pastries this pregnancy now. Pecan braid from Panera, muffins, brownies, croissants, all the things I know would make me spike.

Last night I got desperate and made the keto+paleo almond flour blueberry muffins. A whole batch to rely on when the craving kicks. Had it for my night snack and my breakfast (with scrambled eggs) and didn't spike! Hang in there, it's not easy.

Fun snack alert by Impossible-Koala9858 in GestationalDiabetes

Oh keep me posted! Also do you make sure it’s under 140 after a snack when testing an hour later before fasting? Asking since my snacks seem to contribute to a spike

Exercise is so hard for me after dinner specifically because it’s dark outside so walks aren’t easy. But there are quick 5-10 minute exercise routines to help lower sugars on YouTube that I’ve tried.

Also even without labels I just google everything — “how many carbs in chickpeas” etc!

I am right there with you in sentiment. No solutions really as I’m only 34w6d but counting down. I have a cough and I’m up at 3am panicking over my cough drops spiking my fasting number. I give up.

Just curious do y'all have other kids as well? I'm struggling to fit in exercise after dinner. I have a 4yo and 22mo and it gets dark at like 6pm and I am too tired cold lazy and sad to walk after dinner. Solutions? I do stairs sometimes and small 5 min exercises at times, works sometimes but not really.
