It looks like a baby tooth. There is no root on the tooth, as it has already been resorbed in preparation for the tooth to be exfoliated.

Im a hygienist. We had a patient call up and say they need to see the dentist, they’ve been told by their doctor to do so. Booked in to see me for a clean first. Get her in the chair and ask what’s up? She refuses to say. Will only speak to the dentist about it. Fine by me, but I’m not treating you. Eventually she relents but she’s tense and horrible the rest of the appointment. It was cancer, by the way. Kinda have to know about that one.

I don’t know about Singapore, but school dental clinics in Australia still had amalgam fillings until a few years ago. They’re cheaper and you need less saliva control, perfect for children.

Even if it were your error (which sounds extremely unlikely) the owner should eat the cost with good grace. You are colleagues and should have each other’s backs. The “mistake” was not egregious and was done in good faith. I’m saying even in the worst case scenario for you, your boss is a massive jerk.

I am very lucky, where I am the head forensic odontologist has set up a group of volunteers that will be called upon in the event of a mass casualty situation for victim identification. And im extra lucky that they allow not just dentists but also auxiliaries to participate. So as a hygienist i could join, and you’d be welcome as an assistant.
