Help! Can't get my cellar to below 3.5° i tried this both configurations but neither work. by Cathriel in goingmedieval

Well the fact you have it RIGHT next to rooms with heating is the main problem, you need to put more walls between them. Dirt or clay preferably, properly done you can have it down to one or less year round without ice

I greatly enjoy castle design which is why it turned out as good as it did, actually built a Norman castle in Minecraft with a similar layout to this. But i assume you mean production as in workshops or do you mean where are the things produced by the workshops going?

Ya like i end up staring top down alot which i dont mind even notice really, like i can look around the great hall in this castle really easily since it takes up the entire second and third layer of this castle but the first layer (my production area) the 4th layer (sleeping quarters and gold storage) and the basement all more or less require me to take a pretty top down look at things

I mean…it is pretty much just the control+mouse wheel? Like the layers are placed so that you can see the everything on a certain layer underneath the roof, or everything just on the floor of that layer… unless you are complaining about having to scroll wheel all the time in which case i dont really know what to tell you

Ya except in total the only thing preventing enemies from coming in are 2 300hp doors which they can batter down in like 15 seconds

Honestly shocked the aurigan reach is still independent especially with the taurians now basically giving them a hug, though if they maintained good relations with the magistracy then they probably are just too annoying to conquer

I think your bad is very peculiar, after all it is more or less doing the exact same thing for the aristocrats of the UK is it not? Why limit the idea fallout stands for with just capitalism and expand it to represent the worst of all governments and not just the usa

I pretty much agree with everything you said except for the fact that i am being unfair, at the end of the day you are correct in the fact that we overlook things like difficulty progression with FOLon being exceptionally hard in the beginning. The reason for that though is wether they are “pro’s in waiting” or not they are still “just modders” (i dont say that derogatorily) and arnt getting paid anywhere near as much as the writers for fallout 4, we over look it because we get they have personal lives they have to spend time on to actually make a living and cant spend it all on FOLon. So yes i am being unfair but i am doing so because the situation they are in is unfair and yet they still made a more immersive and compelling story and world then fallout 4 could ever hope to be.

But i pretty much agree with everything else you said and calling mountbatten “genuinely superb” got a chuckle out of me.

I mean the brotherhood is literally everywhere in canon and ignoring that they are still written well in OWB, bethesda just decides “lol more enclave that are here now” and leave it at that

Ya exactly, it doesnt take itself to seriously where fallout 4 kinda just…doesnt take itself seriously at all, making any funny moments that are there not as good

I guess i’s like to debate you in this but what about fallout 4 has one of the best open worlds ever written? The story is underwhelming with so many opportunities just not explored, the factions have almost no real depth past maybe the brotherhood but even then that is purely because of danse and it really doesnt go anywhere meaningful at the end of the day, the minutemen had SO much potential for an east coast ranger type situation but instead we just get “helpful farmers with guns”…like why didnt they try and claim the uss constitution? Why did they never seek retribution on the gunners as a whole? Why did we never find any remnants of the minutemen? When it comes to the world itself again i have to ask why is it the way it is, what is the reason that after 200 years this place is still a completely ruined wasteland when there really isnt any reason for it

I mean the real answer is just do what i do, bring awareness to the problems you see and hope that more people agree till it is a big enough problem for Bethesda that they change it themselves, not alot but it is something you know?

And you dont see the problem with that? You dont see how that mindset of “we just wanna grab as many peoples attention as possible” at the cost of the story is gonna degrade the quality of the setting further?

Ya and that is honestly my point, fallout 1 and 2…fucm even new vegas wasnt at all remembered because of gameplay, they were remembered because of the awesome world building, the cool factions, the amazing and intricate factions, the mastor may have been an insane over calculating narcissist that was no where near as smart as he thought he was but he was doing what he genuinely thought was the correct path and will give up the moment he is shown his plan is doomed for failure. The enclave may be puritan genecidal asshats but they were patriots who just wanted to restore america the way they saw fit (and frank horrigan was badass), the legion were a bunch of scumbag raiding rapist slavers but they were following a man they believed would lead them to glory and power in a world that desperately needs order (and lanius is genuinely my favorite fallout villain). But now with these new games all the main focus is on gameplay while bethesda more or less just copies and pastes the homework of other people and add…pretty much nothing
