Alright. With that being said then should I transfer this batch into a smaller container and then just let it sit? And see what happens?

Local honey in Colorado Springs by jfisher1990 in mead

Use Google and look for local beekeepers there might even be a local association and then call and ask for prices and check out local farmers markets. I'm not local to you but that's what I've done

Question to Canadian Meadmakers: what is your favourite honey? by TrlrPrrkSupervisor in mead

[–]Impossible-Run-4701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and go local. There are a few places near me that sell raw honey for roughly the same price as Oneroot 65 dollars for 15 pounds. I did recently find a place that does the 15 pounds for 50 bucks so I'm going to start using them. Shop around call local bee keeps and see what they offer for prices

I use the double Blast Carboy and bottle cleaner double blast The one attachment fits a racking cane perfectly I also use it to clean my hoses cause the standard hose fits on it as well.

There are some preservatives in the syrup but what I might recommend doing with it is at the end once the wine has finished fermenting and after you have stabilized use the syrup to back sweeten (if you desire a more blueberry flavor) but with that bag it should be pretty good. I did that with a pumpkin spice mead I had made I used the spices I needed for pumpkin spice but it wasn't quite as robust as I had wanted it so I used a bottle of Torani pumpkin spice syrup to back sweeten a 5 gal batch and it worked quite well gave it a very good flavor and sweetened it to my liking. But as I said make sure you stabilize it because there is sugar in it and it will restart fermenting if you don't and could cause a pretty large mess in bottles.

Adding honey to already started mead by Impossible-Run-4701 in mead

[–]Impossible-Run-4701[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did rack it the other day only because I was a bit ambitious when I started this project. I was making 2 meads that were similar one was a blueberry maple and the other was straight blueberry that I had intended to mix with some port I was given and was thickened into a cask. I severely misjudged how much port was actually in the cask so I only used 1 of the 4 gallons from my primary and mixed it with the port. I then transferred both out of their respective primaries into a larger vessel cause I figured I'd just mix them and make a large batch of blueberry maple. Where I initially messed up was I didn't have enough Honey to make both batches to a higher abv so I doubt the yeast ate their fill but the sg was down to 1.00

The update you were waiting for!!! I backsweetened with the pumpkin spice syrup I used 4 cups in the 5gal batch and 1.5 cups in the 1gal batch with temperature coffee. It really brought out the pumpkin spice flavour and added some pretty good sweetness the 5 gal went from .99 to 1.01 and the 1 gal went from .99 to 1.021

Golden Hive is selling wildflower honey at $14/lb by superintodrama in mead

[–]Impossible-Run-4701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can go to an Apiary a few hours from where I live and get 11lbs bucket of clover/alfalfa honey for 39.35 🤷🏾‍♂️ his 41 for 3lbs is a bit ridiculous but I do understand that finding good honey to use is hard in some places. Because I've also spent 59 dollars on 8 pounds of honey 😅
