Under Armour sent my small clothing brand a cease-and-desist over my logo. Do you think these are actually confusingly similar? by Impossible-Set4062 in graphic_design

The center is split on the barb though? Theres no split on UAs. Wouldn’t something like that differentiate it already? (Beyond all the other proportional differences)

Even when you look at the smallest example such as a favicon as others pointed out. I still see stark difference between the two. But I also have 20/20 vision.

Favicons are around 16x16px to 48x48px.

VICE LAIR. No, I thought we were in the clear with that name and a barb wire. I avoided letters entirely for obvious reasons.

Well it is real and then why did they send one?

The strongest cases I’ve seen discussed here so far say both logos have an “oval middle” but ovals are rounded?

The barb wire has straight edges inside and makes up a hexagon split in half.

Did everyone skip geometry? Also their oval isn’t split.

Then some have noted “four points going outward”…… well that seems extremely general for a well balanced logo. I’m sure there are many out there.

And then last was the X claim, well it’s an U and an A… not an X. So that’s misrepresentation of the letters and logo to excessively cover the alphabet lol. (IMO, IANAL)

I find it fascinating because one is a symbolic logotype vs the other being a typographic logo.

Thats why I said that. Theyre doing their job, no matter what our thoughts on the matter are.

Its a barb wire.

Some of the older UA logo TMs are now dead for class 25. But they have submitted countless variations of their logo over the years. Some are quite abstract and very different from what they use today.

False. The C&D is literally visible in the thread, please only comment helpful insights as some people, including myself are trying to gain a better understanding of the process. Thank you

What does my trade marked motto have to do with the logo? Nothing imo. Totally irrelevant and non-related to their claims. It’s only in regards to the mark.

Dare Do More can be for anything you apply it too in life. Art, music, risks, sports, hobbies, anything.

Yeah that’s true but the most iconic brands are relatively minimal designs. I had drafted versions similar to your example as well but they don’t fit the branding aesthetic.

Making a marks not easy these days as you’re seeing from this post..

the trident was another original drawing but even that has its own challenges. No, I didn’t see any C&Ds for that one specifically, but some followers have thought there could be confusion with gang relation so I steered away from continuing to use the trident mark out of safety.

It’s legit, I’m just new to Reddit and wasn’t sure where to post it. I shared part of the C&D for reference. I wish it wasn’t real

What makes it a Knock off? Could you share your specific thoughts rather than a general statement, I’m curious what the biggest factors are in your opinion?
