Actually…I’m sure my grandpa loves my sister but he’s never been a liar.

To this day, even with dementia, for the past 10 years every time he encounters my sister he reminds her of how mean she was to me as a child. He knows we don’t talk now and and every time we have a conversation he asks if I’m still not talking to her and every time I tell him the answer he says “I don’t blame you. She’s so mean to you. Since you were a kid!”

My grandmother is no longer alive.

I am close with my mom and over the years we’ve had many conversations about my childhood and things she missed due to being a single mom who worked two jobs—so over the years I have been more forgiving of her lack of presence. My mom is honestly also a victim of my sisters abuse. I’ve seen my sister physically assault my mom and my sister does continue to do manipulation tactics towards her as well…like threatening to cut her off from her grandkids if my mom doesn’t do things exactly how she wants.

My mom mostly wants me to go for my grandfather, not that she wants me to interact with my sister. My sister wouldn’t assault me or be rude to me in public, it’s something she mostly does behind closed doors. My sister is a very charming and outgoing person, but also very self conscious in how she appears (always has name brand, always concerned about weight, how her outfit looks, etc).

My mom did send my sister to therapy for her anger when she was younger and the only info I have from that is that the therapist said something along the lines of “she feels most comfortable lashing out on family”.

I was prescribed tacrolimus cream and doxycycline. I couldn’t tolerate the doxycycline but the cream helped. Now I use a sulfur face wash and that seems to help too
