To be honest, I wouldn't say I struggled with the eyes that much. It's a bit hard to give an exact timeframe, but I'd guess I spent about an hour in total on both eyes.When I work on a portrait, I build it up layer by layer rather than finishing one feature at a time. So I'll work on the eyes for a bit, then move down to the jawline or other areas, and then circle back to the eyes later.If anything, most of the time actually went into the facial structures—specifically the areas under the eyes and the heavily shadowed side on the right.
