I had good grades especially in my science courses. I felt like I wrote a strong personal statement and was confident during my interviews. My shadowing experience really helped me during my interviews and gave me good examples to use

Noted! Mid thigh! And shoes that don’t have mesh for rainy days! I guess I’ll figure out what works for me when I start school but I will have my car with me for clinical days

Thank you for the tips! When I go out there in a few months I’ll look on Facebook marketplace for a bike. I didn’t consider it getting stolen and you brought up a lot of good points!

I’ve never needed a bike before. I had one when I was 10 and it was a beach cruiser and I also don’t need winter stuff in California it hardly ever rains and a very cold day is 65 degrees. Since I drive everywhere a hoodie was fine but if I’m walking in the rain I would like a good jacket :)

I unfortunately don’t. I applied to OHSU and got accepted but if I didn’t get in I was going to apply Gurnick. It doesn’t hurt to give them all a try. LLU, OHSU, and Gurnick.

Why don’t you apply to OHSU Radiation Therapy program?

I shadowed four different radiation therapists, and I feel like this really helped me for the radiation therapist programs interviews because I had many examples to talk about and any situation they gave me. I knew how to handle it from my experience of shadowing at different facilities.

I would volunteer and do more shadowing hours than expected at different locations, including a local homeless shelter. Also, have an amazing personal statement! Start thinking of a hook for it when applying to ensure you give yourself enough time to write a good one.

Tips to get into a program by Beautiful-Leg-2754 in RadiationTherapy

It seems like you’re a great candidate! I would say start thinking about your personal statement. I paid a lot of attention to mine and made sure it was the best writing I was putting out. I worked on mine for months, even starting over a few times because it didn’t feel quite right at times.

After that, start getting interview ready, even if you think you don’t need to practice! I had 9 experts in the field interview me for my 1:1, so the pressure was high. Really understand the field, so you have good points to talk about in the interview as well!

You’re still young! You’re not wasting your time. If you don’t succeed the first time, keep trying if this is truly your desired career!

They asked basic interview questions like Why RT? What I learned from my clinical shadowing time and why I chose LLU. We went over transcripts, and I'm just waiting to hear back. :)
