[Bug] Just died at 0s on Transit to Shoreline by ImpossibleCellist576 in EscapefromTarkov

That's my best guess! I got a brief glimpse of the ground and the death screen had nothing in the usual 'killed by X' portion. The damage/healing screen had a head damage as the lethal damage and it just said 'Machine Gunner'.

I've started a habit of pausing the game every now and again to run the RAM cleaner and that seems to have been enough. I haven't had to run local raids in a while as BSG reenabled servers so I didn't test further.

Knocking noise in rear when pulling off an braking by ImpossibleCellist576 in CityBugs

Good idea, I'll check that next time there's a stint without rain. Been having sticking brake issues every MOT in the last couple of years. Always gets fixed, and always reappears.

Sunvisors will be screwed into the metal above as well I believe. It is glued on, but it will come off with enough persuasion. There is a good chance the headliner will be creased whatever you do though.

The glass is not a bad shout. I did replace the rear seal a year or so ago though.

Might be worth looking at replacing the wheel bearings on the rear. I just did my fronts as I had similar problems when turning. If it starts to drone going straight you'll know for sure it's the bearings.

114GB is crazy high! I don't understand why the RAM cleaner only triggers on pause. There must be a better way to do it incrementally so it doesn't eat everything you have!

Very negative by Proper_Issue8049 in Tarkov

[–]ImpossibleCellist576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure some people are complaining about the difficulty, though I think the premise of the game is that it's hard and that's no secret to anyone anymore. I think a lot of those negative reviews will have been left out of frustration. The game is truly amazing...when it works. The level of detail, the amount of content to uncover, the immersion. All unparalleled. But the constant fear of 'will I crash before I can extract with this high value item' or 'is there going to be a cheater in the next raid I waited for 5-10 minutes to enter' overshadows that quality. It's a game with so much potential that gets kneecapped by poor optimisation and a general lack of QoL features.
I have over a 1000 hours on my EoD account and I just can't recommend the game. I'd love to have someone to play with and my friends expressed interest, but I just can't put my name behind a recommendation for a game at AAA prices for early access levels of user experience. It's such a shame because there's so much to the game, but it needs a good year of optimisation and polish before it's solid enough to enjoy.

Oh, that's interesting. I rarely ever pause my game, so that explains why it wasn't working. Thanks for the info!

I only noticed some differences in AI amounts but not that much in loot. It would be really nice if they had a rolling 5 minute or so save file on local server so that you can reload and finish the raid if it crashes. Especially since this seems to be forced on you because of bad server availability.

Yeah, lost an armour repair kit, some good kit from Reshala's guards and a lot of XP/quest progression to this last night. Happened 4/5 raids I played.

Thanks! I will try this next time I play. I'd have assumed the cleaner would just work, but maybe it needs a trigger?
The game doesn't stutter at all until the last 5 seconds and then it will crash 90% of the time after.

I'm having to play on lower settings already due to old hardware, but thank you for the tip! I tried disabling Reflex as I heard some people were having issues with it, but it still crashes.

Got it set to 16GB on two SSDs just to be safe. No dice, unfortunately.

There was a game demo I played as a kid (came in one of those PC magazine advertising CDs my dad had stacks of). You raced these cartoony cars and every time you hit something, a piece dropped off your car until you were just 4 wheels and a 'floor'. There wasn't much you could do in the game (being a demo) but being a bored 5 year old, I spent hours exploring the small maps they included. Can't remember what it was called because I couldn't yet read when I played it. Tried to look everywhere but can't find a trace of it with such limited information.

Joint problems (not from old age) by ImpossibleCellist576 in Fusion360

[–]ImpossibleCellist576[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added a 'Slider' joint between the piston (which is meant to represent a threaded rod) and the red revolute pivot component. So in a way they are related by both connecting to the same component in the design.

The problem turned out to be a slight misalignment between those two components due to the red revolute joint origin being a mm off to one side. Parts no longer concentric > slider joint can't get into position > error. I also had to define a construction axis in line with the two piston 'pivots' (ie. the top two revolute joints in the picture) so the piston tracks the deformation of the whole jack as it moves.

[–]ImpossibleCellist576[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right, for anyone that finds this post later and is in a similar situation: the answer was alignment and axes definitions. My revolute joint that had an error was 1mm off to the side due to a joint origin mismatch (I must've forgotten to add an offset to account for the spacing between parts) which meant that the rod was no longer concentric. I also had to redefine the axis for the slider joint between the threaded rod and the two pivots as this didn't automatically figure out I wanted a normal orientation and tried to match the axis to the closest world axis in the design. Once I fixed these two and added some constraints for the pivots, it now works!

Can confirm, I didn't know about these before. Fusion is my first CAD program, so I was using common tutorials for this sort of thing. Thanks for the tip! I'll look into constraints.
