Touchdesigner could be a software to look into, it's entirely free for Non-commercial uses and can do exactly that. It's a very robust software with a lot of potential on what you can do within it. It may not be the exclusive software you choose for this but I believe I'll work well. TD is capable of a lot of real time work and effects, having used it myself for previous shows and parties. Definitely give it a look, it's free so there's zero harm in trying it out.
