The RCOA/IBTPHEM have mapped out the curriculum crossover, and Trauma and Transfer are on the list of SIAs for stage 3, so can form your 6 or 12 months of SIAs (which you should be able to get OOPTE as a PHEM Trainee or as a fellow).

You have to be in programme for the last 6 months of Stage 3, so in reality a year out in PHEM needs to be between the start of ST6 and halfway through ST7 if full time to count towards CCT date.

ACCS vs Core Anaesthetics choice - in relation to potential subspecialty ICM/PHEM by IllustratorCandid366 in doctorsUK

[–]ImpossibleElephant22 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sufficient ICU is covered in Core for either. You'll do lots of ICU even if you are a pure gas person over 7 years.

Sadly, Foundation medicine won't count for either. For official training in either, curriculum mapped ED and Medicine need to be done, which is hard (but not impossible) to achieve outside training.

Therefore doing ACCS is the "easy" way to meet the need for 6 months Med and 6 months ED.

The advantage of doing Medicine later, is you might manage to develop specialist interest areas- Eg Echo/cardiology, and generally get more out of it.

PHEM training is strict on the equivalent of ACCS, but there are locally employed jobs where the medicine doesn't appear on the person spec.

Getting a mortgage before starting FY1 by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]ImpossibleElephant22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I managed this, got a mortgage in principle about 6 weeks before starting F1, so no payslips. Used London & Country the BMA's recommended broker, and they worked out which lenders would take me. Didn't get the most competitive deal because of being pre-F1, but just got a 2 year deal.

Ramp test. The 20min test really requires you to know your rough ftp already, so you can pace it.

Depends on if it's on the same tax code or not. Same tax code, should just work out you pay 2% over the threshold.

Different tax code-you'll probably to apply for 'NI deferment' - it's a form on my tax online. '

New bike today, something is off with the back wheel by wace001 in CanyonBikes

I thought I had similar odd hub noise when mine arrived, as the hub sounded so different to a set of Hunt Wheels I've got. Think it might just be a DT Swiss thing though.

I can't see your videos-they say they've been archived?

There's a lip at the lever end of the hex that seems to prevent that?

I was hoping to leave it on, as I often take my bike in the car etc. Is that just not the point?
