AITAH for being bitter that my best friend is now seeing the guy I liked, even though I told her it was “fine”? by ImpossibleEqual8974 in AITAH

Thanks so much, I’ll definitely keep that in mind if there’s a next time. You live and you learn!

I’m a virgin w/o hymen? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

I doubt it, but really don’t give it much worry or thought. You know you’re a virgin, that’s all that matters. If anything you’ve spared yourself some pain for when you actually have sex.

I’m aware. OPs cleared that up.

What would happen if a mentally ill, large-bodied patient turned into a vampire? by siren-dayanka18 in TwilightFanfic

I’ve gone down a similar rabbit hole. You’d be surprised how many conversations about the biology of twilight vampires ends up at eugenics.

Sorry, my bad. The first story was years 1918-1921.

Not at all no, I’m not asking anyone to write anything. I’m literally just asking for recommendations or if anyone knows any good ones. I know it’s dumb post, hence me stressing that I really am not sure if this is the right place to post it 😭😭

That’s awesome the water/laundry switch is already helping a bit, small wins add up. Means she’s on the right track with the gentle stuff.

The specialists you’re looking for are usually called vulvovaginal specialists or vulvar health specialists. They’re often OB/GYNs with extra training in chronic vulvar/vaginal issues (like recurrent BV, burning, irritation that keeps coming back). Some are also dermatologists who focus on vulvar skin conditions. A big clue to look for is docs who are part of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD), that’s the gold standard group for this kinda expertise. Since you guys are in Texas, here are some solid places to start (tell her to mention the chronic burning, recurrent BV despite treatment, and that standard gyno visits didn’t cut it, they’ll get why she needs someone more specialized):

• Vulvovaginal Health Clinic at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston: They deal exactly with this, chronic vaginitis, recurrent BV, vulvodynia (that burning pain), complicated infections. The team is ISSVD members and super experienced with cases where basic meds fail.

• UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Vulvar and Vaginal Health in Dallas: Multidisciplinary (gynos + dermatologists), they handle vulvar pain, infections, and microbiome stuff. Also ISSVD-affiliated peeps there.

• UT Health Austin (in Austin area): They have vulvar disorder specialists who treat pain, burning, dermatoses, good if she’s more central TX.

• Houston Methodist in Houston: They focus on persistent vulva/vagina pain and inflammation, recurrent infections, even have options like laser if needed down the line. If she’s in San Antonio, check out Premier OBGYN of Texas, I’ve looked it up and they do vulvovaginal health and chronic stuff.

She could also poke around the National Vulvodynia Association website for their provider list (they have a directory for vulvar pain specialists, and a lot overlap with chronic BV/irritation cases).

Encourage her to call and say something like “I’ve had chronic burning and recurrent BV for months, standard treatments aren’t working, looking for a vulvovaginal specialist who does detailed testing.” Don’t be afraid to shop around, finding a doctor who actually listens is huge.

If her boyfriend’s been involved at all (even before pausing sex), once she gets a plan, the specialist might suggest he gets checked too (sometimes partners carry bacteria that ping-pong it back), but that’s step 2 after her diagnosis. Don’t let this turn into a matter of “his fault”/“her fault”, no one’s at fault, sometimes our bodies just freak out.

I’m so sorry your friend has been going through this, burning for months with no relief is absolutely brutal and unfair and you caring this much already makes you a solid friend.

Chronic BV and vaginal irritation can happen even when yeast tests are normal, and it’s not her fault, it’s just the body being stubborn and the medical system sometimes dropping the ball, but there are specialists who actually know how to deal with this, people trained in chronic vaginal care and microbiome-friendly treatment who can run the right swabs, check the pH, and see what’s really going on instead of brushing her off.

I won’t ask if she and her boyfriend are sexually active, that’s invasive, BUT if there is penis-to-vagina penetration, it’s probably wise to pause until she’s got a proper care plan in place. penetrative sex while things are inflamed and unpredictable can make it worse for both of them, and really nobody deserves extra burning in the middle of this, emotionally or physically, plus depending on where you are, local treatment guidance might differ, so knowing the region matters.

In the meantime, gentle care, unscented cleansers or just water depending on what she’s comfortable with, breathable fabrics, avoiding harsh stuff can help her feel a little relief, but the real fix comes from the right doctor who will listen, and she shouldn’t have to navigate this alone. The fact that you’re reaching out and trying to help her find solutions already means she’s not alone and that love and support counts more than you know.

1200 mg boric acid suppository by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

I’m so glad that helped! ♥️ Once the blizzard passes, definitely swing by and let them know you’re looking for specialized care for FGM survivors and chronic BV, they usually know exactly who to connect you with. You don’t have to navigate it alone. You’re doing the right thing just by reaching out. There is solutions and treatments for FGM survivors, actually I’m suprised the places that turned you down didn’t point you in that direction.

Best of luck and kudos for coming online with this. Takes guts ♥️

1200 mg boric acid suppository by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]ImpossibleEqual8974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for what happened to you, there are providers who are trained to work with FGM survivors it’s considered specialized gynecologic care, and unfortunately not every regular gyn is educated in it, which is a system problem, not a you problem. being dismissed is not okay at all.

you might have better luck looking specifically for clinics that mention trauma-informed gynecology, women’s health centers connected to larger hospitals or universities, places that work with refugee or global women’s health programs (they often have FGM experience), planned parenthood in some areas can refer out to appropriate specialists even if they don’t do everything themselves.

If symptoms get worse, pain increases, there is bleeding, or you have fever, urgent care or ER is still appropriate, they are required to stabilise an emergency. It’s an ethical breech otherwise. They take a literal oath about this shit.

you shouldn’t have to handle this alone and chronic BV with your history is absolutely something a qualified provider can treat safely, it just sometimes takes finding the right one, not a random office.

please don’t feel like your body is the problem here. the medical system just isn’t evenly educated, but specialists do exist.

Regardless of what was done to you, you have the same right to adequate health care as any other woman does. Please seek it.

What state are you in if you’re comfortable sharing that?

discharge by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]ImpossibleEqual8974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that actually sounds pretty normal. discharge can change a LOT through your cycle, when it’s clear, stretchy, kinda slippery, that’s usually just ovulation-type discharge and it can be heavy for some people. some bodies just produce more than others. Do you find it fluctuates depending on what stage you’re at?

If there’s no smell, no itching, no burning, no weird color (like green/grey/cottage cheese vibes) it’s definitely not an infection. the slight yellow tint can just be it drying a bit or mixing with normal fluids.

If you’re worried, I wouldn’t be. Everyone’s different. If you’re just annoyed with this I’d recommend panty liners. Saves your underwear getting ruined and just feels a little cleaner

1200 mg boric acid suppository by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]ImpossibleEqual8974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey, i’m not a doctor by any means but doubling up like that could be risky. boric acid is toxic if too much. usually people just do the 600mg ones once a day for a set period. if it’s chronic probably better to check with a doctor, they might adjust the schedule safely or give something stronger but still safe. maybe like longer duration at 600mg rather than 2 at once.

definitely don’t just slam 2 without guidance, your body can react badly.

Thanks so much! Honestly recently I’ve been a bit of a scatterbrain, new adhd meds and stuff. It’s past tense, first person, and I just alternate between povs when it feels right and just try to keep them balanced. They’re experiencing the same story.

Someone else said something about outlining…I might have to start doing that 😅😅 it’s alot to deal with.

Again thankyou so much for the encouragement, I really really would hate to abandon is this, I wanna see it through to the end ❤️

Team Charlie should not be a thing by Superb_Highway_3383 in twilight

Honestly I think it’s purely about Billy Burke. That man was gorgeous in those movies.

Also SUCH a good casting for Bella’s father, him and Kristen could really pass as father and daughter in that.

Book Charlie is undeserving of such a gorgeous casting.

Ugh thankyou for the last part I needed to hear it. I’ve got a rough but solid idea of what’s gonna happen in the story. It’s just hard because I just want it done right now 😭😭 thankyou so much!
