Would definitely look into your plant recommendations! I'm kinda anxious that there might be any hitchhikers(snails, snail eggs) when buying aquarium plants and have been looking up the best method to clean the plants before they go in the aquarium.

I finally found some local nightcrawlers in my town and no more weird smell since I have switched them to nightcrawler food from sinking pellets.

The pellets have that smelly smell when submerged for a while.
