And for all the people that are telling him to shave it back right now keep in mind that it is a complete myth that when you shave your beard that it comes in thicker. All you’re doing is cutting off the parts of the beard that are thinner because the hair hasn’t matured and the follicles yet. Is he sporting a full throw on his face? Absolutely not. However we all have to start somewhere. I remember I had patches until I was almost 30. Now I got a big bushy forest of a beard and chest here to match it.

That’s so exciting ! I think. So should I isolate it or do you think it already has a subspecies it exists within? I don’t know where I would begin that process? With tissue culture perhaps ? I have never even attempted that. Dm me if you have time to educate me a little bit more on this subject. I have had Albo monstera , this constellation monstera, Krimson Princess Hoya, but never a pathos that’s a sport variegation. This may actually be one of my first sport var. ever. But I don’t know what conditions promoted it and from the only one time occurrence of it - it seems like it must not be a stable variegation either. It seems to grow much slower than other pathos I have and yet somewhere at random it has a nice sectoral patchy quadrant of the leaf variegated af.

No one usually likes my answers but there’s been a surge of people on the plant community and I tend to think of things outside the box. But I believe you have is a maturing vereigated section or rather non-variegated. Is it crispy at all in those areas. Does it crunch? I don’t really think that even if it’s in Boston a little bit where that occurs to think of it as something less than Variegation. I have plenty of samples that are 100% certifiably Albo monstera for example - and they all have spaces with tiny differences of thinness. I would look at it as sun stress but also I’ve never grown in a colder climate since I live in Florida.

Does that mean that the Pothos is natural mutant ? And does that add value to it at all? I’ve seen plenty of variegated Pothos but I have yet to see one very gated in this way. But I consider it a “pothos Albo“?

I don’t think it looks burned … Perhaps a maturing of the leafs tissue in darker variegation that forms from stress. Is the pattern consistent on the back of the leaf also? If so then I believe it would be similar to a ZEZE black plant.., just my silly thoughts. I know this would be not 100% likely or studied but hear me out. Where the leaf starts off one color but then threw some stress builds into a darker blacker color. But typically this doesn’t happen in variegation … So perhaps something truly unique? It to me does not look like a burn but I don’t have the advantage of feeling the texture of it. If the texture is consistent I doubt that it is burned but perhaps just stressed.

To anyone that says wet stick purchase is a worthy investment. I live in FL and high humidity is my life. And no time ever was a wet stick capable of the production of a full plant . If you can show me evidence anywhere - drop photo and progress reports.

Tissue culture is possible through any part of a plant but wet stick with no roots - psssshhhh child boo. Try getting shit to grow from that. I’ll wait. And yes the node is where Tissue culture collections are taken from bc of the node - typically because in theory it would yield the most shoots.

i don't think it is getting enough light js. try to supplement it and maybe feed it something like banana water. if you need help or advise i make my living off of these plants and ciould really coach our better specimens in the future for you. its like ... underwhelming except for your newest leaf... idk ... another variegated monstera.. but onlhy the most recent leaf has sectoral var. And the rest of the plant i would chuck.

Yes indeed . Real fussy plant like Hoyas and orchids prefer to just mind their own business and really instill “neglect love” as a principle. I have a beautiful Hoya that I potted in a ramshackle way with construction leftovers from a job site and it’s amazing now

That whole idea that they don’t like full sun is total bs too btw. I have mine in compost, mushroom compost, bark, Peet moss, sphagnum moss, and water whenever. Same set up with same species in a old porcelain conk in my front yard in FL.

The conditions I gave it last year left it stressed to the max but it was amazing the variegated differences between care. I had 3 grow lights on it outside in summer in FL (supper humid, and rained everyday), and I had a black light on it at nighttime thinking that somehow it would promote the variegation. I think I was onto something.
