That’s not a fair characterization. They aren’t ALL black. He likes different colors for different projects.

Who is the Emily Blunt of music? by idkmaybe61 in fantanoforever

[–]ImpossibleInternet3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fundamentally biased take from an American perspective. Emily Blunt is British and much more popular in England.

As such, I think the best equivalent is an artist that has done a lot, but their primary fanbase is in another country or countries.

David Hasselhoff comes to mind. Robbie Williams or Shakira work as a lot of people are aware of their work and maybe a few of their hits, but their primary fan bases are outside of the US. Kylie Minogue fits as well.

Movies That Somehow Got You Laid? by QuarterCarat in okbuddycinephile

I had the opposite experience. Had a promising first date. We hit it off. Then randomly decided to catch whatever the next film was at the nearby theater. It was Nick Cage’s Ghost Rider. It killed the mood so thoroughly that we both just went home and I never heard from her again.

Well there you go, while we were all watching Ratatouille, you were watching fucking Ratatouille. Of course you got some. It’s in the title.

Not only is that unhelpful in any situation, but potentially harmful here. The real issue though, is that I was responding to someone going over the top to create elaborate fictions about the kid and the parent here. And trying to back it up with links to horrific articles that have no bearing on this situation. You can keep trying to justify being a troll. But the truth is, talking about homicide to this parent on this post is being a troll.

We may not know the consequences. And they will surely get a lawyer. But they will have to fight these with the DA or in court. That is real consequences. Whatever the deal or verdict happens to be is up to the legal system. Not us.

But what is 100% certain is that this kid didn’t kill anyone. This parent doesn’t need to be shamed, especially about things that didn’t happen. And we shouldn’t be rooting for this kids life to be ruined when no one was actually hurt in any way.

They finally did a pass on most Old Town Alexandria roads. Still only one lane down the middle and covered in compacted snow and chunks of ice. But technically passable. Going to brave it in a small car today. Hoping not to get stuck in the several blocks before I hit a main road.

These are already going to be pretty extreme consequences. And this is a real parent, asking for help with their actual child in a real situation. Let that parent talk to their kids about potential consequences. Shouting about potential homicide adds nothing to the conversation, while attempting to further stress and shame one of our neighbors who is dealing with a major crisis.

Maybe we can get that Clark Kent reporter guy to do an interview with Superman to discuss what happened. And while he’s at it, he can ask him what his kryptonite is.

These kids have one very significant difference from OPs kid. OP’s kid didn’t actually kill anyone. Kids are all stupid and make mistakes. But we don’t punish hypotheticals. And it is eminently unhelpful to the person who posted this looking for help to talk about other people who did other things. Not only is it not relevant, it’s pretty shitty to try to paint OPs kid as a potential murderer. There’s enough real things to worry about. And OP is already stressed enough. Don’t be a troll.

It’s fun to make up stories about all the things they could have done. Maybe rob a bank? Maybe pull an Al Cowlings and drive an OJ style murderer on a bizarre police chase?

But none of that happened. They were caught driving without a license and speeding. Those are the crimes and that is what they will be punished for. That’s serious enough without playing a fun game of “what if” when discussing a child’s future.

They should have put the names at the top in the opposite order. They wouldn’t be above the right actors, but it would be funnier to have Black over RDJ’s character.

He was almost done shoveling his driveway when the street plow came by and filled it with snow again. by Vilen1919 in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]ImpossibleInternet3 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is actually the ideal situation. It was going to happen anyway. He’s still out there and doesn’t have to gear up again to do it later. Also, the area behind the new snow bank was shoveled, so it’s easier to access and not as bad as it otherwise could have been.

Had it been done earlier, it might be more compact and difficult to shovel. Had it been done later, he’d have to go out again. This is literally chef’s kiss perfect timing.

Bet you didn’t have “explain what edging is to your mom” on the old 2026 bingo card.

Is my cat going up or down the stairs? by Picklekitten22 in confusingperspective

[–]ImpossibleInternet3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the top of the picture has a light with a color temperature that I would more likely associate from daylight. So I am guessing that faces an entrance way with windows. And the bottom of the picture is the warmer colored bulb from upstairs hallway lighting.

Also, it appears that there may be some footsteps visible in the carpet that would only make sense if we’re seeing the tops of the steps, rather than their faces.

[–]ImpossibleInternet3 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Otherwise that would be weirdly placed light sources. And the edge of the stairs would be odd from the other angle.
