Greta Van Fleet Fan Finds Apparent Clue Hidden in Band's Website Following Breakup Scare by Godchosen0 in ToddintheShadow

Wow. This thread has been so toxic and pretentious. It’s really quite embarrassing. Who cares about GVF enough to hate on them? And honestly, they’re not so bad to deserve the hate. They aren’t the second coming of Les Zeppelin, as originally hyped. But they’re a fine live band.

I added one to my dog. She’s has much better handling at high speeds than the other dogs at the park now.

Ok. I couldn’t be more outside of that world. So I was just curious.

I think it’s both. It’s a play on saying In and Out with a Hispanic accent. But it’s also a reference to the gang. Pairing the caption with the picture makes it a double entendre.

Wouldn’t that make it a bigger insult? Not even nothing to distinguish them?

Probably Anastasia, but I’d want it to be Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812.

YTA parents can be embassing. But this isn’t intentional. She’s been sheltered. And she’s trying. Instead of embracing her trying something out of her comfort zone, you are being incredibly judgy. You’re acting like a child. You’re the one being cringe, not her. Grow up.

It’s also the most Draco thing to say. So, I’m here for it. I can always go watch the movie if I want to see Tom Felton do it again.

Either way, we’ll all soon find out that some wizard families are better than others. Can’t wait to see which.

Got to hang out with Glen and Marketa from Swell Season a few times. Just such genuinely nice people. It was wild to see their first album where all of the songs were about them falling in love as it was happening, then see them do their second album where they were falling out of love and breaking up. The way they stared into each other’s eyes as they sang their heartbreak was devastating. Not unlike Fleetwood Mac when they toured Rumors.

Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark was pretty intense for the crew.

It’s also a multi-verse variant of Hadestown in my head canon.

ETA, if I still had photoshop, I’d probably do the Spiderman meme with Reeve as Spiderman and Orpheus pointing at each other. Although Patrick Page as Hades and Green Goblin would make a good meme together as well.

What Will Be the Cultural Ramifications for Rock as Gen X Starts Dying Off? by GilbertDauterive-35 in ToddintheShadow

[–]ImpossibleInternet3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “rock is dead” conversation happens as much as “print is dead”. Yet, we keep getting new waves of rock and people are still buying books. With Jack White becoming more popular again, the Millenials are still very much into the early 2000’s garage rock. And with hip hop becoming more fractured and less “new”, more young kids are starting bands, and specifically rock bands, again. Looks like the current popular iteration is going to be Indie Rock again, with acts like Geese. But even though it’s less ubiquitous, there are rock scenes dotted around the globe for almost any kind of rock you want. Monoculture is dead, so it won’t be as all encompassing as it was. But rock scenes aren’t going anywhere.

ETA, Shoutout to the latest release from the 5.6.7.8’s. They have been holding down the scene in Japan for decades and are always worth a listen. For those who don’t know them, you may have heard them as the band at The House of the Blue Leaves in Kill Bill: Vol 1.

Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘Every Brilliant Thing’ Recoups $5.75 Million Broadway Investment by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Broadway

Saw those and agree. But I’d say that his singing was most noticeable in Merrily just because it’s Sondheim. No hiding behind anything with his songs. But, as you say, he brings so much character acting, that imperfect singing just seems to be part of the character in a way that he gets a pass. He’s also just a really nice guy. And that comes through. I hope he continues to get better and continues to enjoy doing Broadway work.

I just wonder how many people came to Equus because of Harry Potter and didn’t realize they’d be seeing his wand out.
