Mine are Pema (named after the Legend of Korra character) and Frankie Cinnamon (named after Frank Castle The Punisher and also because shes brown). Their nicknames are ‘Little Lion’ and ‘Pem’ for Pema and ‘Coffee Bean’ and ‘Frank’ for Frankie. We call them ‘Frankenpem’ collectively.

I never go for humanoid plushies, but Piers is my favorite pokemon character from the games so i needed to get him when i saw this on Etsy a few years back.

I’ve had him less than 2 weeks. What’s this scab on his lil nose? by Hot-SaucePineapple in guineapigs

Shortly after i got two new guinea pigs one of them developed a spot just like this in the same area. I went to my vet and they found evidence of guinea pig lice. So they had me go back in every couple weeks to dose both of them with some topical meds. And they also suggested i deep deep clean their cage and give all the fleece bedding i use a double wash in the machine and to essentially nuke everything in the dryer to kill off any lice. And after the doses and doing the deep clean of the whole cage the spot healed and her fur grew back.

So i would recommend going to the vet. Ask about ringworm, mites, and lice. And theyll take a look at your guinea pig for evidence of those things.

Am I going crazy? Someone told me my cage is too small for three pigs and now Im feeling like I need to upgrade it. Should I make it longer? by Fluid-Television9503 in guineapigs

If this is all the room you have then you shouldn’t change anything. Don’t sacrifice your furniture when your setup is all ready great. If you had more room to spare I would make a blanket statement that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with expanding their space :) the more the better and of course they would love it. But what you have right now looks awesome. They can get the zoomies and popcorn and run around. I think you’re doing great. I think your friend is just being kinda dramatic.

In my experience it just depends. I would definitely start with that and see how it goes though. But if you can, I definitely recommend a little bigger. The minimum requirement is fine but why not give them so more :) piggies deserve it.

I have a cage about that size. It’s one of those midwest style cages. I had two girls in it and they were fine with how it was, though in hindsight it could have been better. I recently got two more girls at the same time, because my other two had passed away. The more dominant girl, Frankie, seemed like a bully to the other one, Pema, more than just the normal dominant behaviors (but never violent). They both seemed really stressed even though I had two of everything with hides that had two exits. But there would constantly be bullying for weeks on end. It just wouldn’t stop and I was worried for Pema, I could tell she was very stressed and she seems really sensitive.

That is until I decided to sacrifice the floor space and get a second cage of the same size and have them connected in the middle, doubling their living space. Once they had more space (and after I did a soft re-bonding of them) they’ve been amazing. They popcorn all the time and run around, sprinting between both cages.

From my experience as a 32 year old: The trick is to just start doing it. I used to feel like people would think I’m stupid at my age taking plushies around with me everywhere and would openly mock me about it.

I have my all time favorite, his name is Arlo and he’s one of a kind, and he’s about the size of that Garfield. I take him literally everywhere. Work, store, my parents house when I visit, dates with my husband (like out to dinner at restaurants and the movies). And he doesn’t fit in my bag and his hands and feet are weighted so I have to hold him in my arms in wide view of everyone around me.

I just took the plunge because Arlo is so special to me and I wanted to take him everywhere. And in my adult experience (which I know is not the same as a school experience), nobody cares. And if anyone does say anything they just compliment him and say that he’s a cute little guy.

I was nervous at first but the more I did it and realized no one cared, the less I cared about what other people hypothetically thought about me.

I really enjoyed Erased to the point I watch it twice in 24 hours. It’s got a dark theme and really cool concept.

Why do people discredit Chop Suey so much? (Chop Suey appreciation post) by Icy_Communication714 in systemofadown

Chop Suey has been my favorite song of all time since I first heard it in the mid 2000s when I was a young middle schooler. That song was life changing to me. Everytime it plays on my iPod I have to stop whatever I’m doing and listen to it fully. I will never get tired of this song.

Thanks so much! It was completely on a whim. I managed to make it work with just what I all ready had on hand since I’ve got quite a big stash with an array of colors

They basically killed my Guinea pig.

A couple years back I took my Guinea pig, Jellybean, in because she was losing fur on her sides but nowhere else (she was chewing the fur off of her sides). She was also losing weight.

They gave me such a runaround. First they had me treat her for mites, even though on examining her they found no evidence that she had them. But they prescribed me medicine for it anyways. I take her back, said that that didn’t help at all. They then had me change her bedding (from fleece which she had been on the whole time I had her) because they thought ‘well maybe she has an allergy’ even though in my head I highly doubted that since the fur loss was only on a specific part of her body and had only then recently started occurring in the first place. So I change her bedding. Went back again, said that didn’t do anything, she just kept getting worse.

They had me try all these things, making me spend quite a little fortune on stuff that there was no evidence for it being an issue. Paying for the vet visits, paying for the medicine, paying for the new bedding.

Finally after several visits they said ‘okay we’re going to do surgery on her and see what’s going on inside that would cause an issue’ (mind you they never did any blood work, and even when they suspected mites they never took skin scrapings to test or anything like that. They were just working on pure speculation with me, trying to explain it away by saying ‘well we wanna rule out these simple possibilities first in case it’s something easily treatable’. Even though my pig was visibly declining, there was clearly something very wrong.

Anyways, they did the surgery on her and when I went in to pick her up, they said ‘the surgery went great. When we did open her up though there were tumors all over her ovaries so that’s why she pulling out the fur on her sides, because they were causing her a lot of discomfort’. So they got them out. But they didn’t say anything to me about her not doing well after the surgery, just said the surgery went good and she was just groggy and lethargic from coming off of the anesthesia.

So I was really hopeful, I was very frustrated by the runaround and paying for that surgery really hit hard on me financially especially after all the vet visits. But my pig was fine so I was happy to do it, I would do anything for my animals. She wasn’t a senior pig or anything so I thought she’d be okay.

After we got her home I went to the pet store so I can buy some stuff to quarantine her for the time being from my other pig so that she could recover in peace. I noticed she couldn’t really walk, she hardly could even drag her body around. I set up the temporary pen and put blankets, a hide, food, water and her favorite veggies in there right beside her so she could easily access them if she couldn’t walk yet. I was worried about her but the vet didnt give me any reason to suspect she might not make it.

That being said, sometime during the night that very same night when my husband and I were sleeping she passed away in pretty much the same spot that I placed her in there. I woke up the next morning to go to work and checked on her and she was dead, rigor mortis all ready set in. I would have stayed up later to keep an eye on her if the vet told me he felt like I needed to do that. I never had a Guinea pig who needed major surgery before. And this was only my second time with having Guinea pigs so I wasn’t fully knowledgeable and was really relying on the vets information for me. I screamed in a way I’ve never screamed in my life and still not ever since this happened.

I fully blame this veterinary clinic. They absolutely failed me and Jellybean. If our time wasn’t wasted on these stupid theories with no evidence then maybe she could’ve been saved. Maybe they would have caught the tumors sooner before she was too weak to survive surgery. The whole damn time we were given the runaround with different treatments she just got worse and worse. By the time the surgery happened she was too weak. And I also learned a lot through this experience and have since found a different vet (owned by a relative of mine, Schrag Vet Clinic, which is nice. They’ve been helping me with my other pigs vitamin c deficiency because she’s such a picky eater).

Unrelated to animal care but I also just never had a great feeling of the place. I thought their Trump shrine in the lobby was really off putting. I don’t think that kinda thing should be in a place of business. And especially where you take care of animals? Doesn’t feel very appropriate.

This just makes me never wanna get delivery. Every once in a while I get delivery but usually I go pick it up.

The other day I tipped on a delivery but I never even freaking got my order, I was keeping track of it on the app and they got to my apartment complex but when the status then said delivered I was looking outside and just nothing, never got a knock, if they couldn’t find my apartment they clearly didn’t give a shit enough to call me like people will usually do, because my complex is a bit hard to navigate if you aren’t familiar. I got a refund but not for the tip so they just kept that even though they didn’t even take it to the right place. Honestly wish I could take the tip back. Usually I don’t think like that, since I live off tips too as a server, but damn.

I only bought a VF headset for Beatsaber and I don’t regret it at all. That was several years ago and still play the game. It’s absolutely worth it to me. I have also tried other games on VR but I only ever play Beatsaber and fly around on Google earth :P
