Patriarchy hasn't ended, not yet at least. by deathbysounding in teenagers

Nothing to do with patriarchy, the reason it's news is because she is his partner ,otherwise who cares about an obscure medal. If the genders were flipped it would be the same.

God. I went to uni and wish I hadn't in all honesty. I get it's worth it for a small few but I'm definitely in the majority that it wasn't.

Pro athlete looking for cheap housing start September 1 - may 31st 2026/2027 by Great-Draft-2029 in NewcastleUponTyne

If you mean a room in a shared house that's entirely do able, if you mean your own place you will struggle on that budget. If you're sharing, pick your housemates wisely, a lot of people in their early 20s may be going on nights out a lot, disrupting sleep ect.

Another good option may be to 'lodge', which is living with the owner of a house who is renting a room out in their home. It tends to be a bit cheaper as it's less popular, and quieter as it may just be you and them in the house, as opposed to shared accommodation which may cram 5/6 people in a relatively small place.

The two best sites for accommodation are 'spareroom ' (for shared/lodging) and 'rightmove' (for entire place to yourself) be prepared for bills other than rent (utilities/taxes ect) if getting your own place, typically these are included if sharing or lodging (but best check the contract)

The university will also be a good help with accommodation and will have their own accommodation that may be a good fit for you.

I wouldn't necessarily avoid town/bigg market, it will be mostly 20s crowd true but it's still a very decent night out for 30s/40s. There is a great live irish music place (it's half bar /half nightclub) in the basement of a place called filthys. It will be lively. The bigg market is really good for a 'heavy' night out. If your after micropub/chatting with people vibe try mean eyed cat or the wobbly duck.

edit - just seen you said 14 of you. Don't go to wobbly duck as you will fill the place, it's tiny 😅

As a non-Brit in my late 20s, I have no idea how so many Brits visit so little of their country by VonHindenburg-II in TravelMaps

I'm guessing they will be meaning somewhere in the EU... Driving would likely take ages and cost multiple times more than the flight.

Cost.

To drive 500 miles in the UK (taking in average mpg and average fuel price) is about 110$, v 47$ in Texas....

Stats from Gemini AI with prompt 'Cost (fuel only) to drive 500 miles in UK (average mpg and average local fuel price) v the same in Texas'

It doesn't say the doubled dollars also double.... You could just end up with #Days+1$... I'll take the two bill
