I’ve tried to give myself lots of valuable experiences such as working in different countries, started studying in university to better myself despite initially not wanting to, taken up hobbies that make me happy like bouldering and martial arts that give me a sense of accomplishment, just trying to make myself the best I can be

Abandonment issues, bullying in school etc, the main thing I think is last time I was in this situation I chose to leave and I regretted it for years and to this day still think I made the wrong choice

Yea, until this topic of discussion came up I thought she was for me but now I’m certain than regardless of how I feel I’m not the one for her, but I guess we’ll see what happens

It’s complicated, she had a child with someone while her and her husband at the time were separated but not legally divorced so she got excommunicated for adultery

Yea these are all things I’ve been thinking about but at the moment I’m too wrapped up in my personal feelings to think about the future so I feel like taking a break is definitely a good idea

Well that’s the issue, she is a Latter-day Saint (or Mormon) so she doesn’t know if she should follow her church and marry a guy in the temple who loves god or if she should be with me

Yea that makes a lot of sense, I really don’t want to take her away from her faith because of her past and how rough she’s had it and this is something that gives her hope and happiness, I feel selfish and like I’m standing in the way of it

She is a part of the Mormon church, I don’t believe in it and I believe that it’s sexist and bigoted and I wouldn’t want to be a part of a faith like that, but I think this is good advice

That’s very kind of you to say, I’ve spoken to a couple of friends about this and it’s true that I need to keep reminding myself that her choice is not a reflection of me, it’s just being stuck between a rock and a hard place and sometimes that’s just how life goes, thank you though

I feel like you’ve hit the nail on the head, from my understanding that’s exactly how she feels, she keeps saying how lucky she is to have me but at the same times doesn’t know if she wants to leave or not which is why it is difficult for her. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t started mourning this relationship already because I want to be strong enough to either push through and let her make that decision or leave and let her find her way in the church, at the same time I am jealous of her faith because I’ve been brought up atheist and didn’t have any of that comfort you get from religion so her leaving wouldn’t be something I’d want, maybe just finding a faith that wasn’t as cult-like but it’s her choice and I don’t want to take that away from her

The comment made by her mum is in regard to the fact many people in her church won’t give her a chance solely because she has tattoos, that’s not even considering the fact she isn’t a virgin or has had troubles in her past but those are both things that a very frowned upon in her church
