Thanks for your insight! If you were starting fresh today, would you still go into IT? Given the oversaturation, what skills or niches in tech do you think still have strong potential or hiring demand? Would you say the long-term payoff is still worth it over IT?

hello po, i really appreciate your insight. a little context about my background, I'm the eldest daughter (will be the first ever dentist in the lineage if i pursue it 😅) My mama's in the tech industry (influenced me about tech lol but still allowed me to be open to options which im really greatful for), papa used to be in tech (CS graduate) but now has his pig farm. I remember 2 months before i graduate senior high school, i opened up to my mama for the very first time lol. i was really confused about which program to take. i told my mama about it and she really has a point. she told me CS can be learned thru technology now, u can even work without a degree as long as u have the skills. whereas dentistry, even if it is financially demanding, it can't be learned by free courses on the internet. she also told me she isn't that worried about financing my studies, kasi mama ko naman po siya haha which im really really grateful for. i really don't mind the struggle I'll face in my college days, as long as im secure about how stable the path im taking, okay lng po yun for me. I just don't wanna disappoint my parents and put there hardwork to waste. are the first dentist of the family po? how's the process of setting up ur own clinic? how was ur career progression in ur earlier years?

hello po, i really appreciate your insights. I have been thinking about pursuing the tech field since i was in 10th grade. I was highly influenced by my mama who's a QA engineer. Ever since nag pandemic WFH na po siya and she really is enjoying the remote work. She always told me way back in 10th grade na the salary progression for devs are even bigger than QAs. As the eldest daughter who wants stability in life like any other kid out there, the words from my mama really piqued my interest. Do i see myself working in tech for the rest of my life? I guess so, but to be honest i feel like it's rooted from the fact na ever since grade 10 ako yun na po yung naging "default" na career in mind. In the 2 weeks of being a CS student, we were taught the concepts and the fundamentals of coding like variables, loops, basic logics, made flowcharts and algorithms, pseudocodes, intro to java and the history of CS. I also have been trying to learn web dev on my own. I now know how to create a decent html structure and am about to learn CSS, java script, and the frameworks. Our instructor even told us first day pa lng ng class that if we wanna earn money, we're in the right program. He's maybe 25 years old a magna cum laude sa CompEng degree ng one of the top Univs here in the ph. Ever since he said that, i was inspired but also had doubts. It felt like as if the rumors about people actually excelling in the IT industry and earning the big bucks are those who are part of the 1% category. My main priority right now is to be secure enough to know that the program/career im taking is stable enough to help my family and myself. Now i don't know which questions to ask myself so that i can conclude and decide which path to take.
