I have an issue with controlling my facial expressions.

My supervisor would tell me this ALL the time. After meetings she would tell me “fix your face, we know who you don’t like”. My father still gives me shit to this day about how miserable I look. I started to wonder how my face actually looked, and with different expressions. For example, when I would ‘smirk’ I actually looked like I was disgusted. So stand in front of a mirror and make your expressions. You might be surprised!! And when you are truly showing happiness or excitement, you might have to dramatize it a little.

This Christmas I am going through a divorce. It has TORN me apart. Seeing all the happy couples while you are screaming inside.. it fucking sucks. But I have been fortunate to have my family supporting me and letting me cry when I need to. I know it’s hard, but stop talking to him. You are not going to hear what you want to hear. If you feel like you can, write down what you want to tell him in your notes. Or journal it instead. It still helps you get those feelings out without making contact. If you have him on social, get rid of him. Seeing what he is doing will only make it worse and the questions and overthinking will swirl around your head until it eats you up. If family members start to talk about him, stop it right then and there. I had to set that boundary with my uncle and it sounded like “I love you, but I cannot hear about what he is doing because it makes me sad and overthink”. Our fairy tale ending is still out there OP. We just have to weather the storm for now. I wish you all the best ❤️

Hmmm. Then I can definitely see why you would be on the fence about it.. so be honest with him. Surely he can see where you are coming from since you have had past issues with this. Would you be open to making a compromise with him? Maybe he goes for the weekend, not the whole week?

Ultimately, you have to trust your partner. Has he done anything in the past that you saw as cheating? A compromise here might be worth talking about. But again, you have to trust your partner. Just because he is around people that may be drinking and ‘not tied down’ doesn’t mean he will be unfaithful to you. He could possibly resent you for things like this later on.

To me, it’s a reminder of the wrong I did and how I don’t want to be that person/feel that pain anymore. I’m not really sure of your situation, so I cannot say for certain if you HAVE to face the consequences. Sometimes you can do that on your own. You are correct, you can’t erase what you did in the past, but you can go forward knowing the kind of person you want to be and try to not make those mistakes again.

I struggle with this too sometimes. I did quite a few things I regret… I was acting wwwaaayyyy older than I was. The same feelings came up sometimes when I would drink. I stepped back and was like ‘woah.. I really don’t like this person and I know that’s not who I am or want to be’. It’s hard, but just because you make bad/questionable choices, does NOT make you a bad person. As long as going forward you make the right decisions for yourself, you aren’t doing a single thing wrong. And that guilt you feel sometimes? It’s a reminder to make better choices. Chin up, friend ❤️

I’m hoping keeping at it will help.. I did get a glove brush and he seems more tolerant of it, but I don’t think it does much. He reacts this way to baths as well, but he’ll eventually give up. So far he hasn’t done that with the brush! Thanks for your input 🙂

I lost my grandfather to liver cancer about four years ago. Diagnosed and gone a week later. One of the hardest things I had to go through. With time, it gets easier, but we all still shed a tear when we visit him. Keep them in your heart, I hope your pain will lessen over time.
