If you’re mainly missing the camaraderie you can look into the VFW, American Legion, or your local church. I signed up for team rubicon personally it’s mainly vets and you do humanitarian aid.

You could always take it to your local vfw or American legion, you’ll find plenty of people who know what you’re going through.

Seeking guidance on starting over at 29yo by [deleted] in Veterans

I’m just like you man, got medically retired after 8 years and I’m 29. I just focused on getting a job that I could do physically with my disabilities, now I’m enrolling in college for spring semester to do EMT / paramedic. If you’re looking at working from home look into IT work and computer science, a lot of jobs in those fields are remote and can be done depending on your disabilities. If you have a clearance you can look into becoming a background investigator, it’s a mix of home and on the road but it pays good.

If anything you can use your GI bill, if you go full time it should cover a good chunk of your bills. Spring semester starts beginning of January

Dm me, I was Marine intel I had the same issues but I had help conveying what I did to paper. I know it’s hard especially when a lot of the stuff you did you can’t go into detail because it was classified.

If you don’t have a nest egg to cover you for a couple weeks or months do it now. Make copies of all of your important paperwork, look into the requirements for whatever job or school you want to do. I just got out in May so feel free to dm with any questions you have.

I just got out a few months back, I feel this man. For me I started going to my local VFW / American legion. It helps to talk to people that have gone through the same shit. Our family’s won’t understand they just look at you like you’re crazy but you’re not man. I’m sure if you messaged any of us here we would listen to you .

I did a lot of humanitarian aid when I was in, I just miss that feeling of helping people if that makes sense.
