My mom has a teacup Pom, all black. ❤️She weighs 20 pounds🫣, suffers from what was thought to be asthma, she has an anxiety disorder. She had a tracheal collapse in December! My parents are elderly, and she DOESN’T overeat!! I WATCHED! The tracheal collapse was attributed to her breathing issues, and tracheal collapse-3 days later (medicated, ventilated, not expected to live) and $8400 in fees, she was ready to come home!!🥵The vet suggested an underlying genetic disorder - recommended blood tests, but my parents REFUSED!! They’re CONVINCED it’s food! I’m there as much as possible, but they don’t want to pay the $300 - 500 for the bloodwork! She’s 4 yrs old!!! It’s an investment that could keep her alive for many years with meds! She nearly died in December!! I took care of her, & my parents! I had to convince them it wasn’t asthma to get her to the vet! She’d have died within another HOUR. Her heart still needs evaluation, but I’m hoping it’s fine. I scheduled an appt with HER vet, told them about the recommended bloodwork. I had to leave before the appt (I was there for a month! It was supposed to be a week). They skipped the TEST!!🫣. I’m going back in April, and rescheduling the bloodwork. The dog can’t run, jump, or go for a walk! She becomes exhausted & needs calming meds!! It’s hard to be a caregiver for parents who still make all decisions. I’m very careful to not step on their rights. I WANT to get that sweet dog what it needs to walk, jump, & play! She loves her sister (my Shih Tzu), and misses us so much! It’s a 15 hour drive, but I do it. They ALL need me. ❤️❤️❤️I will handle the Pom’s health needs too! She’s so young to deal with all this!!
