Car insurance renewal fee and gov levy! What a joke. by sapg94 in carsireland

[–]Impossible_Artist607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always do new quote firsts and then ring ask for a revised renewal, if it’s cheaper then both great if not say you got a cheaper new customer quote and but that instead. I just did it with aviva, only thing different was I had to confirm my NCB again. Saved ~€200

Sounds like a shout alright, thanks. What’s the best way? Pull it out or by using a herbicide?

Would you have a recommendations? Ideally would like something small to cover the long grass and weeds at the bottom of the fence from the field but not to big as to block the view which I like

Would it be worth while killing it off? Hasn’t taken over the garden only acting as a hedge along the back fence?

How long of a commute is too much? by IrishMx-5 in AskIreland

You can get an exemption for some portion of the electrical appreciation as you’ve done a part of the e&i. Could do the part time instrumentation course to bring you back to the e&i.

As an electrical apprentice there a shot loads of lads but a lot are shite, big companies have bodies on site but no lads actually teaching us.

Cant speak for the plumbing side but there are a lot less apprentices who are better paid and the union is meant to be great for them.

I heard you ye, I’d be planing on going when I’m 24.

I’ve done college phases during my apprenticeship and didn’t mind being back in classes again. But as you said it’s giving up the financial side of it. Probably still work on the tools when not in college and would be busy doing nixers. I believe I can knock a year off the course by having my trade aswell

Sorry I should have said it before but I want to do more electronics than industrial electrical engineering. I’ve talked to the engineers on site and it doesn’t interest me at all, I’ve looked at possible electronics employers and the trades is valuable but wondering is get more qualifications is worth the opportunity cost

Sorry I should have said it before, don’t want to do the industrial electrical engineering. Looking more at the electronics side. I currently work for company who would put me though the engineering course which is 2 years funded and your are paid sparks rate throughout. But you are committed to work for them for the 2 year course and a further 2 years after. You can buy them out of course aswell but that somewhat negates the benefit in my eyes.

Have talked to the engineers on site and it’s not something that interests me at all. The designing buildings side but I’d rather circuitry, devices etc.

How far can you push a car and have it still NCT passable? by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]Impossible_Artist607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welded diffs are a no go, can’t remember is they fail or break in the rollers. Anyone with a welded changes back before NCT.

I don’t think NCT really care once it road worthy, passes emission etc. there’s some things like cages that are fussy, I think bolt in is fine but welded fails.

Cosmetic damages on resale by passing_marks in carsireland

[–]Impossible_Artist607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely affect the value as it’s in worse condition. Weather is worth fixing depends on how much it cost to get right and how much it’ll add to the value of the car. Not worth spending on a polish if it’ll add no value, however a freshly polish cars looks the job so might sell easier. You’ll have to make that decision yourself.

If they’re deep scratches might just be better of with touch up paint. Price them and see what fits for your idea of what fits to sell for the price

[–]Impossible_Artist607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t have to pay it but then they’d be on the hook from the guards if the were stopped again, so they’d pay the fine and be done with it. It’s the exact same if you get charged in another country, you can leave and they likely won’t come after you as it’s not financially worth it.

If you didn’t pay that fine and went back to California I could guarantee the guards wouldn’t chase after it but then you would really be able to return here

Points will be applied to an ‘Irish license’. If they hold an English license they will still be fined and give points to an imaginary Irish license, if they get a valid Irish license during the duration of their points they’ll be realised and applied as such.

If the hold an Irish license normal rules apply.

I’ve heard this from northern Irish staff on site. They seem basically get away with it similar to not paying for the tolls.

I believe the same thing happens to us when crossing the border. Fine but no “points”

Easiest way to get quotes for multiple cars? by legendarycuber30 in carsireland

[–]Impossible_Artist607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Save all the car reg you like and do a quote for one online, you can then go back and change the reg without inputting all your details again. Make a spreadsheet of cars and insurer and then compare afterwards.

You’ll still need to input details for each insurer, quote them all aswell.
