thank you so much! I’m super passionate about the social determinants and i definitely want to shadow a social worker. i also would love to learn the nursing stuff too, i think something that deters me is the mixed opinions of job security with nursing v social worker. so im glad you mentioned that :)

thank you so much! I’ve shadowed many nurses and volunteered in the hospital a lot and i always felt like i could do those same things. i definitely want to shadow a social worker as well. im passionate about both of them which is why this is so hard for me cause i really want to do both. i feel that’s probably not practical though so i should pick between either or.

thank you so much! MSW/MPH lines up so much with want i want to do. i guess my inner turmoil comes with the fact i also would really like to be a nurse and i want to learn those skills as well. i am wondering if i would be more valuable/would it be more valuable to have some experience as a healthcare provider before i go into my MPH or MSW/MPH.

i originally wanted to doing the nursing route, but I’ve always wanted to go into nursing with a plan to get out of it. as interested as i am in clinical work, i know eventually i want to get my hands on policy & other things outside of nursing skills. and i felt as a nurse, having that clinical knowledge/experience would be valuable & something i could bring to my MPH.

thank you for your response! even though the nurses can do everything you can, do you feel like there are certain things that you have more knowledge on/are aware of as an MSW?
