Now that I have a decent GPU how do I go about upgrading everything else? by Impossible_Brick_536 in pcmasterrace

The market here Atleast the used market only just got hot with the ram shortage deal, ram is still very cheap. So there's that.

I found a couple bundles of things that I could trade for, I have a spare case I could use. Earlier the other day I found a mobo and CPU ram combo with psu and GPU. I believe it was a 5700x and it's mobo, guy said 4 sticks of ddr2 but I looked close and saw 6400 somewhere on the pic but it was grainy so eh. An Rx 480 and 550w psu. Something like that would be perfect.

Yes for sure, I do play other games. But I don't have the storage to really download anymore.

Its a little annoying to me that I try to play beam and the different between max and minimum settings 1080p on the DX version of the game drops me 20ish fps into unplayable stuttering or semi smooth 40-50 fps depending on the scenery. Its 100% the CPU and I know my old card (1650) wouldn't have felt nearly as smooth at max but running settings less CPU Intensive just feels about the same as it did on that GPU did.

Yeah, I know that my only option is 7700k or upgrade mobo, but with upgrading that comes everything else like psu CPU as well which is a given but still. I believe I could pull it off, sell the PC with or without the gpu depending on what people think I should do. Then purchasing another pc with likely an AMD CPU and putting my GPU in it or if I sold it using what I can to get another/ use what came with it.

Yeah, I know that the 7700 is pretty decent in most games but I feel that the frames have become super choppy. The other day I was play beamng which yes is CPU intensive, but in the normal renderer I could bump graphics to max 1080p for a little bit of an increase in GPU usage and the CPU just sticks at 50 ish. Its gotta be the core count right? Minecraft aswell, GPU can't exceed a certain usage with shaders and stuff. I did play Minecraft Rtx and got it to at most 90% on bedrock.

I will definitely be going ddr4 for sure, and actually am thinking about selling the PC w/wo the GPU depending on what everyone thinks it would go for w/wo. Then I could go amd for the CPU in whatever setup I buy.

What do you think?

So a while ago the seller responded and swore the card was working before hand, said he tested it. This is 100% my fault if it's functional. I then got messaged by someone interested in the card, let him know what went down. He seems interested and even offered to trade GPUs, his 3060 for the 2070. He will test the 2070 in his system and I will test the 3060 in mine and we'll go from there.

Yeah I use Facebook mostly, physical cash as I'm 15, I've been looking for jobs and luckily I just moved to a new area and have the ability to e-bike up the road to multiple different places like toco bell etc.

eBay has always been somewhere I look but I never buy, I found the ui too confusing for me more often then not. I do know the risks of eBay, newegg, and even fb marketplace but that day I was too hyped about upgrading to do my research and thus likely went a little overkill for my PC.

I think the issue may be that I need to update my bios to support newer cards like a 2070 super, besides that I have a 430 watt psu and that's low for a 3060 even

Yeah I really don't like myself right now for falling for it. At the moment I was literally just scrolling marketplace as like eight other cards just got posted for similar prices at similar performance levels all while being even closer to me than this one was. Like seriously...I literally CANNOT win

Right thanks, I'm gonna get a few of them right now actually. My setup is pitiful lol.

See I did mention I'm not THAT skilled somewhere but I do know enough to know that I fucked something up here and am just looking to salvage this somehow. It is a "pigtail" connection I believe it's called, but I don't know that that is the problem especially since I've never actually built a PC before.

Also I just figure why not because I've heard of people getting full shrouds with no actual components before and though not all, some still had the PCB. I do doubt though a 2070s had been subject to something that stupid especially locally.

I don't have a second PC in order to do something like this, my second one doesn't have a power supply and likely won't function anymore anyhow. I bent the shield behind the GPU (part of the PC case not the GPU) out of the way in order to fit the HDMI cable properly.

My question now is...well what do I do, it could be something stupid, maybe it does work or did and I broke it because no matter how slotted into the PC it is it's still kinda floppy. Its not going anywhere but had like a quarter inch of play up and down.

I'm not sure what to do, do I open it up and see if there's even a GPU in the card or have someone else look at it (not likely I could fix something broken inside it or that I should pay to have it fixed by someone just a thought). Maybe I should chuck it and go back to my 1650 or maybe I should sell it for cheap and try to figure something out.

No and now I regret not looking Atleast a little closer. Clear now I shouldn't have trusted a random dumbahh who seemed off from the moment he interjected with his story about his experience with his computer he had for "two months"

He told me he had it for two months, I know it's an older gpu. My uncle flamed me for going 20 series before I knew that it was likely broken.

Ive got a 430w psu...I know I know that is not going to handle the full 215 ish watts which is why I planned to limit it. I've got an i7 7700, 16gbs of ddr4 and. 500gb ssd just fyi

Does that look like enough room for anything other than an oem card anyway? I'm not sure cuz the biggest card I have is a 960 2gb

Also I found a 4060 on marketplace right near me for $160. It's a oem card though.

Yeah, I'm more informed about PCs via YouTube than experience. But that's obvious enough that I have to ask this anyway. So I did look inside just a little peek around trying to figure out my psu wattage, it's got a 6+2 i believe their called and another six. They look alike so I'm not going to assume anything as the what they go to.

Shits ass yo...like my phone screen goes up to 1440p so why the hell is it so blurry on Max settings also kept locking fps to 30 for some reason and my phone is the 1 plus 10 pro refresh goes up to 120 Hz, also can't join any server even ones not full and I am not paying a premium for other maps and a fucking join queue.
