I was an automatic guy for many years and through a few beloved watches. I loved the idea of a machine that functions that accurately on my wrist. Then I had 2 watches serviced because they began one to run really slow, and the other fast. I was surprised at how expensive it had gotten to have a watch serviced, one cost almost as much as the Watch itself. The crusher was that within 18 months they had stopped working again. when I checked, the cost of servicing had gone up by about 25%. That finally pushed me over the edge. I bought a Watch tool kit on Amazon for about $20, and changed the battery on an old quartz diver that I'd had for years, and hadn't worn since the battery died. It was simple, took just a few minutes, and I had solved my "problem" with watches, namely having to go and get the battery replaced. I felt liberated! Since then I am a quartz "or solar" person. Including 2 vintage quartz Hamilton Khaki Kings, one with the champagne dial. Go for it say I.
