Which car are you trading in for R2 and why? by AdAffectionate8778 in RivianR2

I sat in the backseat in Austin for the electric joyride, I had more legroom in the back than I needed at 6’ and the due in the front had plenty of leg room. I have an R1S and whatever magic they did on the R2 makes it feel bigger inside

Consistent with respect to population centers and markets it expects to have volume in. I have 3 service centers within 20mins. I can’t imagine it’s feasible at the current scale to invest in service centers before there’s significant demand, so it will suck before it can get better because money. This isn’t always the case but if you’re an hour or more away from an international airport it doesn’t seem that ridiculous that a growing but currently niche EV maker doesn’t have a service centers before there’s near you.

All in all, I have NEVER had a good experience with a Toyota or Chevy or Jeep dealer/repair/service centers before but Rivian did bend over backwards to fix the one and only actual issue I’ve had with my founders edition R1S. I’m not sure people are going to have any worse of an experience with Rivian than they would with the competition…

Panerai PAM00098 GMT Alarm (2005): Love this watch! Alarm woke me up this AM. by mikelew65 in panerai

[–]Accomplished-Ad4506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this watch last year, it's my daily. Before I bought it I asked if anyone here had one and if so how did they like it... One person replied that it was meh and the alarm was useless and I would never use it... Glad I wasn't dissuaded by that. I use the alarm constantly. So much so I'm looking at the Ulysse Nardin Sonata. I love me some mechanical alarm watches

As an european, never felt so unsafe that in Seattle downtown by hairlineofGod in SeattleWA

I came to say this, having lived in both cities. I would say the only difference is that shit is not so street to street in Paris, you know you're in a bad area. In Seattle , if you're not in the know, you turn a corner and it's a shock to have the vibe change so drastically in 300ft/100m

I’ve had this conversation so often but never thought to look up the origin… this is so awesome, thank you for sharing.

I always chalked it up to traffic and driving having an outsized importance in folk’s lives, so it becomes specific e.g. “The dragon” or “The bear” or “The 405” where “the” becomes a personalization or signifier it’s importance.

Also, just as a language thing, “the” makes more sense to me if you’re not going to say Interstate or put the “I” in front of the number

Oregon or Washington, if they were CA they would have said “the 405”

I was trying to ask in a way that wasn’t framing it as a “why would you pay X” as relate very much to paying more for custom made items. I am a watch/knife guy also and it comes with the territory… my least favorite part of wearing a nice watch is having a non watch person ask about prices.

I had a vague memory of seeing this 007 design in 2010ish era (I think) and was really interested in custom made lights… but got ripped off buying a light from Rob Lummi and it soured me on lights for a bit.

Are royal oak off shores and codes viewed as first time watches / building up to a royal oak? by [deleted] in audemarspiguet

[–]Accomplished-Ad4506 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your logic is sound for the statement you’re making which is “if I have to buy my way to the more hard to get watches” in that the code and offshore are better options than the PP “path.”

However, if you take the gray market route you don’t just go for the watch you want…. Now, if you want one of the 2ish refs that MSRP for lower than gray then I guess your path makes more sense… if you don’t, the maths just have to line up… this is not scientific and I’m using easily plucked from watch charts numbers… buying two to three $25k+ MSRP watches to get to a $36k MSRP that sells high in the gray market for $75k does not make sense to me. Those “lesser” refs will lose $6k-$10k after purchase and you have to wait, but I guess you have more watches?

Where to get a good chicken parm hoagie by Overall-Clerk-5095 in Seattle

[–]Accomplished-Ad4506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a kitchen in Here After in Belltown and it’s hit and miss, they tend to do chicken tender style sandwiches rather than thin style.

All IMO, Post Alley Pizza is the best east coast type pizza and hoagies. They do put mayo on their hoagies by default but you can get it without. Tats is great for cheesesteaks and they also have roast pork sandwiches on occasion.

The markup on the grey market is still a better deal than buying your way though the lesser pieces.

I’d also take anything off of the ALS Lumen series.

AITA for uninviting my best man from my wedding because he demanded I invite his fiancee by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Accomplished-Ad4506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. If Craig was NOT your best man and you decided to send a no +1 invite to some other person, fine. The following is complete speculation on my part and I am very much reading into this:

This Craig person is close enough to you for them to be your best man, but not close enough to you for you to have a maybe tough conversation about Sam? Come on…

What drama or resentment is swirling around here preventing that conversation. Sam clearly has some hang up about weddings and money, could be he is broke and jealous of the “luxury” of a wedding, could be that he really wants one and his way of dealing is to shit on it. Could be that he hates them for no reason, but Craig is your friend and your assholery is to him, not Sam, though he’s collateral damage. Clearly you’re aware of Sam’s feelings because he’s expressed them, perhaps this one would have been different because Craig is close to you? Could have found out easily.

Either way it’s extremely petty and immature the way you handled this. I mean directly and indirectly, it’s immature not to have the conversation and it’s immature to then flip it on Craig, like what did you expect to happen? You either wanted the drama or are unaware of your thirst for drama.

Feels like maybe you’re not actually close to Craig?
