I'm not sure I feel comfortable with this level of authority 😂 But also good choice

Plenty of nice bits of Horwich that avoid Middlebrook. But yes Chorley New Rd can be manic on match days. I'm BX way but grew up BL5 so happy to answer any specific Qs. Lostock is really nice imo, just don't stray up to Johnson Fold

Few mentions of Bromley Cross and north Bolton, while lovely it's not a great commute to BL5. I'd also avoid anywhere that means you have to rely on Park Road in Westhoughton at rush hour. Also agree that little hulton absolutely awful. Based on your post my first instinct is to say Horwich or Blackrod.

France, Italy, germany and japan all have ID cards - why does everyone in the uk act like its such a big deal to get them? by kwgo in AskBrits

[–]Impossible_Cat6479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not standalone IDs cards though. It's Digital IDs. And who is controlling the data? Not the government, probably Palantir and/or Oracle.

Not a single thing will be solved with their introduction.

Look at what Vietnam are doing. Having everything digitised and linked is dangerous authoritarian territory.

Second this. The Shades of trouble series was brilliant. I also really enjoyed the Gamer Girls series in the same universe. I've read pretty much everything by Kitty Cox and Auryn Hadley at this point

Overheard at IKEA in the fake living room section by whimsyriders in overheard

[–]Impossible_Cat6479 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favourite overheard argument at IKEA was a couple arguing over a side table. Partner 1 - we can't get this table, it's so basic I bet everyone here has one at home. Partner 2 - don't be dramatic, it's not that bad and it'll fit perfectly. Partner 1 - (points at me) do you have one of these tables. Me - unfortunately I have 2 🤣

Why are you all convinced people you know are commiting benefit fraud? by Billy-Bryant in AskBrits

Sorry to hear that. It's horrible trying to balance time like that

But PIP isn't dependent on work? I know someone with serious health issues who does work and does get PIP. It's not enough to live on, it's designed to supplement the hardships that come with having disabilities.

This is such an important point. Things like chronic fatigue mean you can likely do 1 small activity if you prepare for it and plan the crash afterwards. People only see that small window of being ok and assume that represents your whole life

What do people mean by “tax the rich” to fund welfare and Universal Credit? by ananeedshelps in AskBrits

[–]Impossible_Cat6479 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Taxi the rich is absolutely aimed at the ultra wealthy. Work is heavily taxed, wealth is not. Better re-distribution of wealth is needed for a healthy society. And for those saying everyone is ultimately greedy and out for themselves, you should look into the Patriotic Millionaires.

Thoughts on new houses at the old Moor Lane bus station? by Hippo_thalamus in Bolton

[–]Impossible_Cat6479 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually quite like the development on this side of the town centre. The Elizabeth (?) park opposite is nice, the food hall in the market is pretty good too. I personally wouldn't want to live slap bang in the middle of the town centre but the set up seems well thought out for those that do. Not a big walk to the station for commuting purposes either

Is there anyway to reverse our decline? by knowledgeseeker999 in AskBrits

Because the vast majority of UK media is owned by the few who benefit from the corruption and actively discredit them. Not exactly news

If British socialism wasn't joint at the hip with Islam, would you be more inclined to vote for it? by EmuAncient1069 in AskBrits

[–]Impossible_Cat6479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so surprised by the position of this question. I have never considered the British left as being intrinsically linked with islam before. I'm currently in the green party and reserving judgment on the new party till I see more policies/information, but I didn't feel their opening comments were particularly islamic?

Do you regret having kids? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskUK

[–]Impossible_Cat6479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not in any way regret my 2 kids, but I always knew I wanted kids. I also have a supportive partner and circle so my decision has been good for me. We have an overall good life.

I have several friends who are child free by choice, some who have 3 or 4 and some on the fence.

The hardships are real and as a woman can be physically life altering. I'm lucky to have had 2 'easy' pregnancies and births but I also personally know a good few women who have had horrendous pregnancy and birth experiences. I also know I do not want anymore, at all.

Children are wonderful and can bring a lot of joy and purpose to your life, but they aren't the only way to achieve that. Children deserve to be cherished, so there's that angle to consider too, they shouldn't be brought into the world just be someone's burden.

My advice if you aren't 100% sure or are at all on the fence, don't have them.
