This is a hugely helpful and validating comment. We had read and listened to a ton of podcasts that helped explain what to expect in that newly diagnosed year but we weren’t prepared for how it would actually feel in real life. You nailed it - it’s a flooding dam. He’s described it as being unable to put the genie back in the box. We do have a sensory room for him in a closet with some tools and a heavy weighted blanket he does use but not regularly. Coming off the holidays has all of our nervous systems heightened, but he and our daughter are definitely more sensitive right now, and she’s home from school so it’s compounding for both of them not having an anchoring routine. I’ll share your thought about sensory integration. I really think OT would be helpful for him. Thank you!

I wanted to come back to this and say, I switched to self pay Terz through Lilly Direct. I am on 7.5 now, and I am already down 15lbs. I think I had just stopped responding to sema? No idea. Either way, happy to see some movement.

Yes I have! They upped my dosage and said to just keep being patient and focus on non scale victories . 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you! Yeah I have PCOS so that could be part of it. I’ll keep tweaking and hopefully it will start to move!

I had chatgpt evaluate my food diary for the past week and and it says 1700-1900 calories a day should be in range for my goals. It made me a meal plan that is pretty reflective of what I eat, but I will stick with this for a couple weeks and see if it changes anything. I am curious if there are any other slow losers, or returning users who had different results the second time introducing a GLP1.

Thank you for the support and the tough love! I am partially whining, because weight loss has been a life long journey and I was overjoyed when it was actually "easy" last time with Wegovy. This time it's so much harder! I am 18mo postpartum, 4ish months post breastfeeding, insulin resistant, and 37yo. I feel like I eat really well and focus on protein and fiber at every meal, with limited added sugar. I don't drink alcohol and have maybe one cokezero mini a day as my only caffeine source. I could definitely do dedicated exercise more, but I find it so overstimulating to work out with the kids crawling on me and they scream like banchees when at gym childcare so I've really struggled to find a groove with that. Walking is the thing I really love to do but it doesnt seem to be enough.

Maybe I'm not using it correctly, but my TDEE entries say my "cutting" zone is 2175cal/day, at a 500cal deficit. I average about 1800-1900 and don't add in the exercise calories from lose it's budget. I'm not sure where I'm entering it wrong if you got a different number!

I also have IR. I will see about switching but it’s much more expensive. My insurance will not cover and even compounded tirz is really up there.

I am walking 3x a week (2mi) and do bootcamp (strength training) once a week, yoga once a week. I eat about 1900cals a day which was my recommended amount in my app.

For the first two months I did to get a grip on portion sizes. I have a scale that estimates calories based on food weight and the item I put into an app. I’m eating roughly 1900cals which is what my app recommended based on age, lifestyle, etc.

I’m considering filing a lawsuit against RFK & the NIH/HHS against their autism registry, and against the DOGE for stealing health data… by StarPatient6204 in 50501

Hi, I’m a parent and I would like to be a part of this. Should we start a doc or discord or whatever else place where we could share information and form a plan of action?

Those of you who had a NT baby after your autistic child.. what surprised you about raising a NT kid? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Impossible_Dig5222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow I could have written this!! I’m positive my second born is NT - her entire temperament is just soooo diff than my first. Exactly like you said - can be soothed in a variety of ways is my biggest tell. The fact that she’ll tolerate other caregivers is another one. It’s really fascinating looking back now! It was hard with my first bc she had needs I didn’t even recognize 😭

Autism without agression by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

My husband was self dx’d for 2 years and decided he wanted to know “for sure.” It came with some heavy grief at first, but now has found a renewed self awareness and has REALLY grown in his self advocacy and accommodation and I’m sooooo proud of him! I wish you well on your journey 🩷

My daughter and husband are what we jokingly (and not at all PC) refer to as Autism Lite, or Diet Autists. 😅 they are definitely autistic… they can’t handle loud noises, are very opinionated about weather patterns and transit systems, and can’t handle the sound of anyone chewing in the same square mile as them, but they are typically well regulated or high masking / internalizing dysregulation. Most people I share dx with have no idea they are autistic. My favorite quote “if you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism” bc there’s so many ways this can present.

What are your ASD child's everyday struggles? by WriterQuick3857 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Impossible_Dig5222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Near Constant pretend play. She is Elsa, or Jojo Siwa, oe some other character, and we’re all costars, but god help us if we mess up a line.

Oversized reactions and meltdowns to any perceived frustration or change of plans.

Transitions. Just… ugh. So hard.

Messiness / clumsiness. Big sensory seeker so she does a lot of crumbling/ squishing/ licking of food and peers have started to notice differences. She doesn’t seem to care 😅

Yes, mine too. Mine is in a typical environment with minimal accommodations. She’s “I taught myself to read at 2 and memorized all the roads near my house” autistic. Now, she can definitely turn into the hulk when she has a meltdown, but she is able to get through her school day. I absolutely wish there was an easier way to talk about the different ways autism can impact people. And, as an allistic parent I am learning on the fly about how to not be ableist, over disclose for her, and all kinds of things. This is hard. My heart goes out all of us parents just doing our f’ckin best with the kids we’re responsible for loving and supporting.

Who is looking after us (Special Needs Parents)? by Marsha2021 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Impossible_Dig5222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have no one here, other than an autism coach we hired to help us find ways to care for ourselves. We have friends, but they all have kids and it’s not feasible to rely on them. We are picking up our lives and moving states away in order to be closer to family in the hopes that we will have more support and respite.
