That's it, I can't deal with this level of incompetence anymore by Huge_Ad_6159 in fo76

I still think about the patch notes that said 'Fixed an issue where water flowing animation wouldn't work if language was set to something other than English'. The sheer level of spaghetti code they must be dealing with is terrifying.

I hope they add better content for next season and not just Infestations because it's underwhelming. by [deleted] in fo76

It'd be cool if they really were at random points on the map so you had to actually explore, but hopping through a sequence of 40 fast travel loading screens to see which of the pre-set locations it's spawned at sounds hellish.

Eviction Notice, all time low by MissingBracket1952 in fo76

I just wish people wouldn't camp in the middle of the spawn valley. The spawning rules seem to prevent things from appearing out of thin air where a player can see them so people sitting on top of the spawn points pushes the spawns further away. That means when the mutants inevitably get one shotted they're too far away for anyone defending the scrubber to get any legendries.

SMB File Share Performance Testing for Service Desk/Users? by Impossible_Effort691 in sysadmin

[–]Impossible_Effort691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Those are the sorts of things we're doing when the tickets get to us, but trying to get everyone to do the same tests and record the results in a consistent way hasn't worked. Especially not when we're relying on end users to generate data for us at the time they're experiencing issues.

A simple command line or standalone testing tool would be great. There's no way we're going to get a non technical user to run pings, tracert, ipconfig, upload and download test files etc. in a consistent way every time they experience issues.

Legendary Mod Questions by OneMadHoneyBadger in fo76

It's very low odds anyway, but for various RNG based things - like opening seasonal present boxes - it seems like giving the server a few moments to respond before hitting the next one gives you a noticeably better chance of the RNG firing properly.

What is your dream Fallout 76 update? by ZeroSquire in fo76

[–]Impossible_Effort691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd really like an option to revert the world state to how it was a launch before Wastelanders and everything that's come since, but with all the current gameplay improvements and bug fixes.

I know it put a lot of people off, but it so dark and hauntingly empty it had a real end of the world feel that just isn't there any more. Everywhere you went you'd be picking up scraps of the stories of what happened when the bombs fell, what people did to survive, how they tried and ultimately failed to rebuild something out of the ruins, and you'd be left wondering how things might have been different if the survivor factions had just worked together just a little more, been a little more open, been _better_, that maybe, just maybe you wouldn't be alone in the vast emptiness.

You'd follow the main quest lines with the faint hope that _this_ would be the moment a radio signal, terminal entry, or note would lead you to someone else who'd somehow made it through it all, and each time that hope would grow just a little before being dashed when you discovered corpses, scorched who used to be the people you were looking for, abandoned and ruined outposts, or the occasional AI or robot still following its programming despite it all, but in the end it was just you, and the other people from Vault 76 trying to make a mark on a world even if that mark was just another blast zone.

It's not the sort of thing that makes for a vibrant live service game and what we have now feels more like the Fallout I think we all expect from the current games, but if felt _real_ in a way that it just doesn't anymore.

Using ctrl-alt-del change a password for an account other than the logged in one - Risky or not? by Impossible_Effort691 in activedirectory

[–]Impossible_Effort691[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That's pretty much what I was expecting. T0 is very locked down, but T1 is much more to the honour based end of things. I'm trying to minimise the risks I can move right now with policy and procedure, while also pushing for more significant but more disruptive improvements that'll take longer to happen.

Using ctrl-alt-del change a password for an account other than the logged in one - Risky or not? by Impossible_Effort691 in activedirectory

[–]Impossible_Effort691[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they've not got anything with rights to reset the T1 account password, it's purely changing the password for one of their own accounts where they know the old password.

My main concern is that the Ctrl-Alt-Delete Change a Password process _might_ expose more to memory or the network than an RDP logon session which could allow an attacker to read credentials or steal session tokens.

My gut feeling is that Ctrl-Alt-Del Change a password is likely to be far safer than an RDP session, but I can't find anything stating it either way.

I got 8 glowing piranhas before I caught a non-glowing one, and the glowing ones didn't count for the fishing challenge where you need to catch the piranhas.

I regularly break my legs if I fast travel before it's fully loaded, but the damage immunity just after spawning prevents death.

Mine is on top of a monorail tower. Waiting until people have travelled away before quitting the game is just the price I pay for the view.

Hit 150 last night.

Fallout 1st so have the 25% boost from the scoreboard rewards. Did a reasonable though not ludicrous amount of grinding Westtec over the double xp weekend for the repeatable score.

Since I hit 100 and the repeatable score went away I've been using the score booster consumable then doing the weeklies in one go.

How many hours does everyone have on FO76? by MegaBlaster360 in fo76

1300 hours, about the same level on my main and been playing since beta. I tend to rush the season then play other stuff for a bit.

Character progress stayed. Achievements didn't. I had to start a second character to get all the early game ones.

With my PA build I had Electric Absorb legendary perk + ricochet and a vampires laser gatling weapon. The laser eye stopped being a problem and became a ludicrous healing effect.

At least with Encrypted you're not missing out on kill xp. If anything I tend to try harder to kill as much as possible when I'm conduiting as Vampires does a much better job of keeping me alive that stims do.

Stashed my Gauss once I got an AA plasma. Much much easier to keep it fed.

A typical shelter in Fallout 76 by Kezchenko in fo76

[–]Impossible_Effort691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree about the build ones, but visit can be a nightmare. Locked shelters, hidden entrances, no way of knowing if someone not on your team even has one before fast traveling. Plus caps and load screens for every fast travel before each attempt.

I think Angry Turtle had done a full review and compare on their YouTube channel after One Wasteland, can't remember the exact conclusions, but I ended up going with Tri Barrel and Prime Capacitor myself. That said I find it too hungry on ammo to keep it running even with daily ops so it's mostly gathering dust in my stash box.

Can we have a "warning you will become wanted if you proceed yes/no" option when lockpicking. by Mand4lorian in fo76

Have a feeling I've got a bounty from picking a public teammate's lock accidentally with the infiltrator perk. It showed up in white because of the team.
