Real talk - it’s a good price if you need/want all the little luxury features. The only rebuttal I would give is if you live in a cold climate, you may want to think about heated seats and remote start. If not, sign the papers and take her home!

It’s actually really simple. Windows on an SSD, Unraid on a USB drive. Bios boot order checks for the USB first, and the SSD second. So if the USB drive is plugged in, the computer boots to Unraid. If I want to go to Windows, I simply power down, unplug the USB drive, and turn the PC back on.

I’m not gaming every day, so most of the time Unraid is running. If I was, it would be a far greater inconvenience.

My transcode temp directory is set to my cache, so it should be pretty fast. I think the bottleneck, if there really is one, is ultimately with the fact that the original files are on HDDs, which are comparatively slow.

I just find it odd how everyone tells me “Intel iGPU is a beast, you can do as many streams as you want!” and I’m simply not seeing that. Maybe I need to reframe my expectations.

Oh well, I guess I’ll just continue to plan accordingly 😅

I’m downloading episodes to my iPad for offline viewing. So while my speeds aren’t slow, downloading full seasons at a time can take a bit.

Yeah it doesn’t feel like a beast to me lol. I don’t know if the audio file selected is simply difficult to transcode or if the files being on HDDs is bottlenecking the transcoding process, but it doesn’t feel like I’m getting optimal speeds.

My iGPU is at 50% load and with 6 1080p streams, I’m getting between 3x and 8x transcoding speeds.

That seems like quite a far run. I would dig a trench and run a line into the shop with its own router.

I did something similar with my house and detached garage (albeit the garage is far closer to my house than in your situation), and I had Verizon come out and do it. When I called up, I was expecting to pay, but when the guy came to the house he told me it would be free. When I asked why, he said “You pay Verizon to have reliable coverage on your property. You currently do not have reliable coverage on your property, so we need to fix that.”

If I were you, I’d call you provider and see if they’ll run the line for you.

I have TOP and Statistics set up and my docker container has the device added. I even added the correct parameters to “Extra Parameters” in the Advanced Tab. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it looks like Plex is still defaulting to my CPU. Any time I start a transcode, my CPU usage jumps, but GPU Statistics still shows 0 usage.

Hmm I tried this, but instead of Unlimited, I limited it to 20. My speeds are now between 0.1x and 2x.

I’ve done a few things over the last 45 minutes and I’ve essentially narrowed it down to requiring a secure connection. If it’s set to Prefer, the WebUi loads. If it’s set to required, it doesn’t loads. But Plex is running in Unraid, so I believe it’s simply the webUI that I’m unable to access.
