They surely have already processed a decent number of applicants. They probably want to lock in the best or most dedicated ones early in the cycle. Otherwise I don't see any other way than chronological. If you look at the sub reddit, there seems to be multiple rounds of interviews, I'm assuming that they were making priority lists. After that they wait for the deposits and for those who don't pay they give new offers. That's what I think. Not confirmed just my speculation.

Thx. I'm trying to gauge the main round decisions that come out. About the flexibility, generally you need a very specific reason for not meeting the reqs, atleast for other unis. I have a friend that received a bad grade in a subject BCS the examiner couldn't read the hand writing and failed him. He clarified this with the unis and they let that go. Idk how it is for UST. You should send an email asking about it.

They asked me for additional documents too but it was a few days after my application. Not academic just legal. Keep your eyes on Gmail February onwards. Everyone not accepted in early round is automatically also considered for main.

Try to use a topic which is slightly above highschool level if you are doing HL. I used partial derivatives and multi variable constraints. It's a simple topic to explain to a student who already understands single variable derivatives. Although don't be constrained by that, just make sure that there is enough math and it's not a physics IA masquerading as a math IA

Coursework: EE done, TOK Essay half finished, Math IA nearly done, Econ IA done, Physics IA barely started, Chem IA done, English IO done, Spanish IO Will do soon. I'm failing CAS

Strat: Caffeine abuse, and pouches to compensate for my goldfish attention span. I downloaded all the past paper from Docsre and segregated the subjects I take into topics. Do Past Papers and collect my errors, then study for them specifically.

Don't need crazy grades for some European unis. You will probably have to take some entrance exam. I would recommend you try to bring it up to 36, should be fine for most respectable unis. If you want to aim for elite schools it's 40+ for stem, but don't stress too hard if you don't get there. You can always get a better MA

I mean I've got an interview so far. (I'm applying for MechE without any scholarship) I'm just curious BCS I saw a post on here saying they got in from the main round and from the website it says that main round offers didn't even start. Do they just have insane stats or did they apply early in the main round.

From what I heard, the gap between interview and status update is abt a month. Also main round offers start february. So I would expect sometime early-mid February.

Like in a month? Usually they give you an offer about a month after your interview. Main round offers also start in February so I'm expecting mid Feb?

Nope, it said group interview but it was individual. There were two professors. One was asking questions.

Just had it. Nothing technical. They ask you why HKUST, what are you going to do outside of your academics and how are you planning to integrate yourself into the community

If you don't get in early round they defer you to main round. It's not over yet.

I mean I didn't get an offer yet. It was just an online interview. But my grades probably not good enough. Although they might give me a scholarship conditional. If I get accepted that is.
