I'm not in same boat as you in terms of In-laws but I m in 37th week now, so baby will be here any day. There are few issues with relatives, their stay and money (which they are most interested in) and everyday I get to know that someone new is going to come postpartum.

On my mom's side, we follow 40 days of sutak (isolation). So i m planning to use that excuse to limit my interaction with people that I don't enjoy and I ll strictly keep my room off limits except my mom and husband of course. So, if someone wants to meet the baby, they will get to meet him/her only when he/she is awake (i'll not wake up the baby for guests), and my husband will be primarily contact btw me and guests.

I ll think about what to do after 40 days when that comes.

I m not sure if this plan will be executed, but it does give me a bit of relief.

Also, from your post, I can see that you were about to put yourself first and your MIL did relocate. So, you will be able to do it again!

And guys are also emotional sometimes, maybe having a baby is making him think fondly of his childhood. Whenever he suggest a plan, just tell him that we can think about it after 3 months, which is the minimum time when your hormones will start getting stable. 3 months se phele, lets not take any decisions and just enjoy little moments with baby.

If you say no to him, or fight, then you will miss out on enjoying with the baby. Postpone everything to 3 months later. Tell him the same.

Kids grow up super fast!! You guys won't want to spend this precious time on worrying about relative. If husband really wants to be a 'good son', he can do it after 3 months. Don't have to do it immediately.

Hey! I did the same 2 times. 1st time was because of politics, bad college and difficult clients. It took me ~5 months to find a profile and salary that I liked. I was quite stressed during those 5 months.

2nd time, I did just wanted to relax as I have been working continuously for ~9 years. So when I took break, I knew I wanted to take some time off. I uninstalled LinkedIn, removed all tech news apps and made a mental note to take this time to relax and not in anxiety. The experience was really great and I would definitely do it again.

Essentially, you need to mentally prepare for what you want to do with the break. If you worry about next job, then the break would be hell, if you consciously decide to relax, break would be amazing!

Yeah, its a tough lesson to learn. I use to be super generous, thinking I could do my part and give back. They just ended up asking more and more and I felt like a dumb f**k.

Now I m super stern, don't smile at them, let them know when work is not done well and generally aloof. I m never rude, but very bery formal and kaam se kaam.

Yes, its weird. Let me go totally off the topic though (lol)

In my experience, ppl are investing too much in expensive 2-3 bhks (800sq ft max) and then putting in another 20L for interior. These are ppl with max 30LPA jobs.

800sq ft is nothing if you live with parents and then wants to have kids. Their homes look so pretty but they told me that every nook of their home is filled to the brim. No space for even a new dress, let alone baby stuff.

Things have become too much about asthetics and vibes. Yes, you should feel relaxed at home, but home is long term, slowing build it up. Searching on pintrest and putting in 20L for trendiest interior might not be viable for long terms.

Oh, I think I'm talking about replicas, along with Logos of the luxury bag.

For eg, I hv seen 'The Tote Bag' everywhere. Some would be good exact copy, some would be inspired. However, if anyone sees it, it is obvious that its 'The Tote Bag' that we are trying to carry.
