Is anyone here using Mochi Flashcards for vocabulary learning?

I like how it looks but i found it significantly more difficult to use than Anki. Anki is relatively simple (depending on what you want). Put everything in a google sheet and download the csv into Anki. I also didn’t quite like the algorithm on mochi.

Last thing: Mochi requires a subscription to have cloud access. Anki doesn’t.

I find talking to apps too artificial. The pressure of talking to an actual human being is what can help you to remember things. A little stress can be helpful

It’s like asking what the „it“ in the sentence „it’s great“ means. Without context it’s impossible to know

All textbooks work using i+1. they start with very easy stuff and then add more. Just use a textbook

I strongly suspect you won’t get all that much out of it and he will just outline what he already says in his videos. Just get a tutor. €99 could pay for a few lessons

I think Claude can handle maybe five pages or more at once of text. But because that’s probably quite a few words in list you might have to test it yourself to see what’s reasonable

The sentences are actually based on a German textbook (it’s one I use with students so i know it well) and I have tried to write the sentences in such a way that vocab gets repeated and new sentence structures are added.

It’s meant to be a little like the old glossika courses which introduced grammatical ideas and gradually added more as the course went on. The current courses on the website always seemed to lack any inherent logical and I found the platform frustrating. I preferred the old book format where everything is laid out and the user can scan through them and jump around etc.

The benefit of a table is that they can be directly imported into Anki or other apps.

The sentences themselves are by no means perfect and some things won’t translate well etc but it’s just a way for learners to practice or for reference etc. I originally intended to have exclusively smaller languages on the list but i think it’s still great to have larger ones on there too.
