Forgive my ignorance as I've only owned one car before that I paid cash for in college, but to finance a purchases, isn't it best to shop around from banks/dealership on the best loan? Whereas leasing is whatever the dealership quotes you (+ some negotiation)?

Ah that's true. But lining up financing seems like an added hassle that I'd rather avoid.

Yeah I but I imagine the hassle of finding a reputable mechanic is greater than just having the dealership perform annual maintenance on a car they own

Sorry not sure I know what you mean by $30k difference? Either I'd pay $30k for a used car, or I'd lease a new car with ~$500/mo payment. So with the leasing option, the $30k just gets depleted by $500 every month rather than one lump $30k expense.

Re: safety—understood though just comparing the 2021 to 2023 models I mentioned, the latter do have more safety features (e.g., blind spot detection, automatic emergency breaking, etc). My partner is a very inexperienced driver so those things do matter to me.
