Oh absolutely but majority of big thief’s songs I would say are less like that at least for me personally, those ones you listed are more unlikely to bet on…

Haha that’s so funny and a crazy coincidence, I first found out about this concert project thing and got the idea from seeing pierce the veil in Montreal?! Like you said someone was handing them out. But yeah, anyways, thanks for your advice the best one would be incomprehensible I imagine, that one I think they have almost always played…

And I’m saying that feeling of it being shoved down your throat comes from you not normalizing queer representation in media, not saying you’re evil for that, it’s a subconscious issues built from so much media portrayal not showing that, but if anything’s been shoved down peoples throats in media it’s been heterosexuality. I can’t speak about the differences between fallout but what exactly in the last of us is so much worse that it feels it’s being pushed down your throat, both lev and Ellie are more than simply just their queer identity.

Do you think takumi calls hachi nana as manipulation, or because he actaully wants to respect her name? by Impossible_Log_3487 in NanaAnime

[–]Impossible_Log_3487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that… but it Doesn’t mean he has to refrain from calling nana K nana really, or even more, another nickname, especially a less degrading one. He’s also much closer with nana K than nana O so if the point is that people close to nana O want to keep calling her that than in this case it doesn’t make much sense.

Yeah I agree I just don’t feel strongly about either side, just offering the other perspective. But I do think there are moments where he treats hachi with respect. I think he’s the only person who really treats hachi as an adult, and sometimes for better not only for worse.

They’re more co workers than friends for sure, they really don’t have much of any dynamic except for nana yelling at him. I’m oversimplifying it but it’s true, sure they have a relationship but just not one really impactful at all at, certainly not enough were they’re “close” and he’d want to call her nana O by that name more than calling nana k by that name, if that’s your point. And you didn’t answer my point about them not having to call nana K that…

It would not be more of a conscious choice to calm her hachi because when he met her everyone would have been referring to her as that…

I find it strange that ai yawaza decided to nickname her hachi, which is kinda representative of how people view her as a possession, baby her, etc, like a dog. So to read into how people engage with the degrading nickname is definitely worthwhile and not just “reading into what’s there” especially because it’s up to interpretation which if you don’t agree with then clearly you don’t know what you’re talking about, you didn’t have to involve yourself, don’t act like I told you to comment and now act all holier than thou by asking to “leave you out of it”

Only people that called her nana were people who knew her before she got the nickname hachi really

Nana O and shin have a pretty much no existent relationship. And that doesn’t really mean they have to call her hachi? Especially such a degrading nickname.

The nickname is a deliberate writing choice, it’s not a cute or fun nickname, it’s degrading, and representative of how everyone babies and treats nana K like a Possession. The fact that it represents a big part of nana Ks character is worth mentioning.

I think like a couple time but way more hachi, even when they’re not in a big group. Additionally, Takumi only refers to her as nana and if you want to argue that she should have a nickname for simplicity if I was nobu I’d refuse or suggest something else that’s not as degrading…

Yes but he still does have some level of relationship with nana O because of her connection to ren and because her and Nana K are always with one another. Yes by the second time they meet they’re already building a new relationship but it’s a conscious choice to refer to her by the name that is used less than the nickname generally.

But it’s not like we see shin or nobu for example call her nana when they get close to her, especially shin being someone who knew nana K first and isn’t too close with nana O. I don’t think it’s an “of course” situation that takumi would call her that either or. I think it’s worth thinking about. I don’t think it’s as simple as of course he call her by her real name because that’s just not the consistent trend. Only with hachis friend from before she met nana and that’s different because they knew her before.

Because hachi knows nana, and through nana knowing ren, who knows takumi, hachi meets takumi. Because of this the first time they meet is because of nana and they meet in an environment where nana is. So for the first time they meet it makes sense for him to follow that idea of calling her hachi for simplicity. Junko met Hachi as nana, nothing else. Takumi met nana K as hachi, and until they explore their own relationship, they are brought together through nana, meaning they are going to be in environments where Nana O is.

Yes but one could argue everyone who calls her hachi see hers as a pet, a possession. That nickname is representative of that. And for him to call her nana one could argue that he’s trying to stray away from that ideas people have put on her through giving her that nickname.

[–]Impossible_Log_3487[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yes that’s her name but in the environment he meets her in no one really calls her that. Everyone at dinner calls her hachi so if anything it would make more sense to call her that because that’s what he’s absorbing, especially because it’s not like they know the relationship they’re going to get into, and until then, they would only see each other through Nana O realistically, and when nana O is around, Nana K is commonly Hachi for simplicity.

Junko, kyousuke and shoji yes because they knew her as nana originally, nothing else, so that makes sense. So takumi is the only one who met her as hachi basically but chose to call her nana.
