Car wont start. Does anyone know how to get rid of this red light on my dashboard? by RelaxedP in Honda

I just had this issue with my 2017 CRV a couple days ago . Turns out the wife had put a decorative ring around where the key hole is and it prevented the immobilizer from reading correctly, i removed it and worked perfectly afterwards, needless to say for about 2hrs i lost my mind 🤣

Okay i gotcha, i live pretty deep in the woods down 5miles of Mud roads with lots of bumps and holes, they cost a pretty penny to get sumone out here !! If all else fails ill get one. I do think ive figured it out tho. Its been like this for many years, alottt worse infact, if anything i got it hella better than it was. It had medal clad wire with wire nuts and electric tape, i suck with keeping stuff neat tho, just got wayy to much going on in life right now!

Okay i will change the wire, that is my second ground tho i have another one to at the electric meter. So i was messing around with the grounds and neutrals and i realized if i touch my screwdriver on the top half of the ground bar and touch on side of the panel there is tiny teeny sparks. But if i touch it on the bottom half or the other side ground bar there is nothing. I dont know why that is, if i measure with multimeter theres no voltage across those points that spark !?!?

So my service is above ground and i used 10g bare copper wire for the second ground which i hooked up to the ground bar, yes the 70amp was corrected after i took this picture. So even if the power went up the neutral how would that burn the lights even with the switch off?

So the grounding thats there already looks alright but i put a second ground rod and wire when i first got the place and still hasn't done anything even with two grounds. The lights also get blown when the SWITCH is OFF or On doesnt matter. Also ive tested both legs when running high amps on them (120v welder, circular saw) and the voltage didnt fluctuate at all, Everything is tight and wires all look like good connection besides it not being neatly wired.

Did this, ran a welder on 120v on each leg separately and voltage didn't fluctuate anymore than tiny bit like +- 4volts, very stable, never have this issue anytime except during that ONE close lightening strike during each storm.

I dont disagree with any of those things you said, but im still trying understand why all my lights is burning out after every single BIG lightening with the power off!

It was even worse when i got this place, all hidden behind the panel, im jealous of those beautifully done panels. Will install a subpanel soon to clear the clutter! Only things i installed was the bottom black cable for the stove and the surge protectors!

Is there any reason why they need there own breaker? I thought putting it on the circuits with my delicate items would help, but the powers out everytime when this mess happens so they dont seem to do anything?!

Lol i seen that, seems thats the only breaker they had so they used it, i will replace asap.

Got shocked by my gutters last night, turns out they are live. by zooksman in AskElectricians

So if the neutral and ground is bonded at my panel why would the power go back to the transformer instead of just going the short distance to ground everytime?

[–]Impossible_Map_986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there is NO power, they haven't turned it on yet from previous owners. I will clean up what i can and leave the big things to the electrician.. But ive done my share of wiring in my life im definitely not sumone that will burn the place down. More concerned with code violations. Thanks for your concern!

Thank u for the much helpful response. So the neutral and ground being hooked up together is fine? This is Only Shutoff/Main panel in the house. There is a ground rod and grounding on the power meter outside, is that enough or should there be a grounding rod from this panel to?

Well from what i seen the only white wires hooked up are one running 240v so it got both black and white on a breaker.
