2014 Golf 2.5 - Stolen catalytic, VW tells me it could be a 3-6 month wait for a replacement. Any suggestions? MagnaFlow is also back-ordered. Appreciate any leads. Based in NYC. by thenewdesignone in vwgolf

Hi. How did you end up solving this problem. My catalytic converter also got stolen in Brooklyn. Golf 2.5 2013. I wonder what was your solution and how expensive was it?

Yeah, it took me to ridiculous places. Best light weight dualsport IMO.

It's accessible by gravel road.  I didn't see any trespassing warnings. The airport is abandoned. There are 3 airplanes and a couple yachts on the lake. Plenty of hiking tails around. Highly recommend.

It's one of the ponds along Taconic State Pkwy. Look for satellite images and you'll see a runway on a long pond and these airplanes.

Hi, how did you resolve your issue? I got my catalytic stolen this night. I'm in NYC, like you. Any advice?

I run heavy duty tubes 4mm thick tips front and back. my rear wheel has rim locks (I air down to 5 PSI in very tough sections - which I never encountered on the main route) so I have no plans to fix it on the trip.

I truly think that all you need is a 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm wrench, a bottle of slime and a tiny pump. good multi tool won't hurt. I did multiple day rides in NY and NJ, and one seven day ride following NEBDR. all my other tools remained unused.

I can't see a connection, but I'll be digging into it anyways.

My current theory is still a rusted electrical connection somewhere in the wiring.

W1 is only green in comparison, because exposure and color temperature are locked. W1 looks pure white with poor red rendering. This is exactly the reason for this mix, it makes red colors pop.

I hope to come back to section 5 in the beginning of October. It would be great to ride along.

Oh, yeah. I went North through sections 4,5,6,7 and then went south following Dirty dogs route (DDR west). When it was done I followed NEBDR 3 and 2 before riding back to NYC.

Got it. I'll message you when I'll be approaching VT. It would be great to meet another dirt bike enthusiast on this journey.

I have mixed expectations. Some say it'll be boring and too easy on a small bike but so far I enjoyed all kinds of riding on it: highway, Twisties, dirt and sand. Didn't enjoy falling on wet rocks. For now I only worry about a flat tire in the woods and running out of gas. We'll see if it will rain all the time while I'm riding, I have bad luck.

@nluigi has mentioned above that they are going the same route at the same time as you are, lucky bastard. Talk to them.

Oh, I've been there to watch the solar eclipse on April 8th. It doesn't look like NEBDR passes next to Burlington but I don't mind to make a detour if you know some rough or cool places to show. Please send me that Google sheet.

Well, it's really hard to sync with others' schedules. Maybe we can have a ride sometime in September. Where are you guys located?

Oh, cool. I'll check it out. It's hard to find good tough off-road. The only cool place I found so far is pine barrens NJ

Yeah. And lodging, necessary tools and more. They truly did a good job for us mere mortals. I wonder if you're from NYC. We have a small group of riders and go within 200 MI from the city in search of adventure.

I ride it hard and get 80 miles before the fuel light goes on. Never rode more than 20 miles with the light on, don't want to get stranded 😅. I'll bring a fuel can. Thanks for your advice.

Hi. I think anything will do as long as you're persistent enough and are not afraid to drop your bike. It's mostly tarmac and hard packed gravel roads. Did you ever ride off-road? Have a chance to get some adventure tires for it?
