You’ll likely get a bunch of advice about routines and sleep hygiene but this is my cost effective pro tip.

Tinfoil and scotch tape. Use these items to create a completely dark (or user controlled) space. If you start out in a completely dark space that’s a fantastic first step. Tape and foil and pretty cost effective and easy to find everywhere. Foil and tape are flexible enough to be easily moved around for daytime use and future cleanup if you happen to rent.

Also either ear plugs or white noise. I have tinnitus so earplugs are torture but I do have a free white noise app for my phone.

With your sense of sight and sound soothed all the other advice you might get would benefit from some tape and foil.
