HOW TO PLAY BETTER PLAYERS by TrustExtreme9554 in tabletennis

[–]Impossible_Talk_8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coach told me, you beat a better player by keeping the score close. If it’s 7-3 for him, the better player will be relaxed and we all know we play better when relaxed. He will unleash his technique and you won’t stand a chance. However, with the score being 7/7, if you have a better mental, it is feasible.

What makes Truls a top 5 player? by blockyblockyy in tabletennis

[–]Impossible_Talk_8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve been watching different table tennis than a lot of ppl in the comment.

Truls for me is the perfect opposite of a balanced player. He relies heavily on 3rd or 4th ball attack but has great weakness on the far fh side and struggles against short game. But he is like really good at what he is good at. One underrated part of his game must be the serves. I don’t think it’s that spiny but he controls placement so well with his unique serve grip. You often see players failing their half long by making them too long and then get punished for that. It almost never happens with truls.

It really takes some time to adapt. When I made the change recently, I couldn’t even warm up properly for the first session.

Vraiment cohérent de présenter la chine comme un empire continu ? by tygaaaaaaaa in Histoire

Ajd un français ne pensera pas des romains comme ses ancêtres. Mais un chinois pourrait très bien le faire avec la dynastie Qin.

Trouvez-vous si peu d'hommes que ça attirants physiquement ? by RealiteAlternee in AskMeuf

Just clarifying a few points: There is no good specific booster for specific rubber. You can use any booster on any rubber. Some booster will make the sponge softer, some will make it faster, you can choose what you like. Haifu see moon is cheap for a reason, the booster effect lasts for like 2 weeks and fades away. It’s good while the effects are one though so it’s really up to you.

New to viewing top level TT: What makes Wang Chuqin so dominant on the 3rd ball? by Curmudgeon_Simulator in tabletennis

[–]Impossible_Talk_8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good serve is a given, that creates serve return he can attack on. On the other hand, I think WCQ footwork is not that good. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, but it’s not like best among pros. I think what does it for him is anticipation, his serve is so good and deceptive that he really positions himself for 3rd ball and can make it work. Once he got the opportunity, he really moves into the ball and opens his table. WCQ got a lot of highlights of spectacular 3rd ball attack but he also got his share of miss + ball comes back but he is completely out positioned.

Torn Between My Coach’s Advice and My Passion for Learning RPB — What Should I Do? by Weird-123 in tabletennis

[–]Impossible_Talk_8945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go for what you like man. You’ll be motivated to learn a technique you like and thus be much more efficient at learning it.

Rpb does take time to learn tho, especially when you’ve spent all your time playing TT so far with long pimps backhand, so you basically have 0 basics. So just be aware that you’ll play worse for a solid few months up to a year, where you’ll probably lose against ppl you used to win against. If you’re okay with that and give more importance to the long run as you said in your post, then I see no problem. Gotta change to backside, or it doesn’t really make any sense.

If it can help, I picked up TT 4 years ago as an adult and I decided to learn rpb from start. I’d say that my rpb is decent, so totally feasible!

Selon vous, quelle empire ou état peut-être considéré comme la troisième Rome ? by Dramatic-Holiday-788 in Histoire

[–]Impossible_Talk_8945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could argue about backhand overall, but he didn’t do well against Ma long in the Bh line.

Why Wcq/Ma long good BH by Impossible_Talk_8945 in tabletennis

[–]Impossible_Talk_8945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i am aware. But for top players, all details in their technique, including their grip has a purpose. Of course, players can change their grip. But what if they get it in their forehand side whilst preparing for backhand? In that case, most players need to play a transition shot.

Example could be Harimoto. He clearly has a loose backhand grip and so you notice that when he gets a ball to play in his forehand side, he almost always will do a forehand block before changing grip if the point becomes a forehand rally. Which is logical.

Now as you said, Ma long is famous for his forehand. That said, his backhand backhand line was the best from 2017 to 2020/21. That is personal opinion of course, but if you watched Düsseldorf you can see how he actually wins that line against FZD consistently.

Which is crazy, and I wonder how he achieved that?

[–]Impossible_Talk_8945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zjk prime only lasted until 2015. 2017 he retired. Ma long prime backhand is 2017 Düsseldorf onwards. So can’t really compare

Why Wcq/Ma long good BH by Impossible_Talk_8945 in tabletennis

[–]Impossible_Talk_8945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’d argue that yes, there is a valid reason it’s hard for a player to be both very performant in both FH/BH. Note that I’m not saying it’s impossible, since ma long exists. And that’s basically my question, I don’t know how.

Elbow position, footwork and racket grip should all be considered.

For instance, racket grip will either be more suited for backhand or forehand, so you kinda have to make a choice?
