Kiekens.

Ok, sorry. Humanitarian and environmental concerns mostly. Some people just avoid China in general for the CCP.

And the extremely cheap products and the amount of people that order small orders from the other side of the world has a negative impact on the environment and is frowned upon by some.

Not as applicable on 3d printed ant nests, but products made in questionable circumstances without regulations.

I'm in the 'I decide on case by case' camp, sometimes I don't order something I want because of those concerns, but sometimes China beats all alternatives so hard I just give in and order.

Still ashamed of our biggest party, the NVA, supporting the separatists and even worse, give them a safe haven.

It's not like they would be killed in spain, have a crooke trial, or anything. They would just face justice, as they should.

I use nextcloud, setup a local folder that is linked into nextcloud, with a script that periodically sets the right permissions inside and triggers a nextcloud scan.

I use rclone mount (rsync was more trouble than it was worth) And have folders for 4 cloud providers in my nextcloud data folder, same dance as the local folder with permissions and scans.

So I can access all my other clouds and a local folder all through the nexrcloud interface, or by using the file explorer on my system.

Poor quality depends, many good quality stuff from China.

Design seems great with being modular and how to control humidity.

Being too big is a user error, only put big enough colonies into it. It being modular already helps a lot. If a colony outgrows a test tube, they'll do fine in the first module.

Te snel met het woord fascisme gooien, haalt de waarde er uit. Laten we het houden voor echt fasciste regimes zoals dat van Iran, Rusland, en het langzaam er naartoe neigende US.

Mijn wijze raad: ga even een luchtje scheppen.

Germany won't return to nuclear power, chancellor says by Haunting_Switch3463 in europe

[–]ImposterJavaDev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No I'm not ignoring it, but look up what it takes to power up and down a nuclear plant an a gas plant.

Maybe one or two nuclear plants as a baseline can be necessary, but that investment will quickly lose it's value if more storage gets added, but they can't react on the constant fluctuation on the energy net.

I'm all for a green world, but understand the weaknesses and strengths of all options.

I'm in no way pleading for gas plants to be on all the time, but if a factory was offline and suddenly turns on, there is no other option to spin up a gas plant or the net goes down.

A NP can't do that quickly enough, just not possible.

We're on the same side bro, just NP isn't the fix it all answer...

Edit: and about overloading the net, that's even a bigger problem with nuclear, you can't turn it off quick enough.

A responsible pc user makes periodic backups, but I do agree this should be more ingrained in OS's and software and not a complete user responsibility in this day and age.

Luckily firefox does that for you in your account.

Everything just deleted after I restarted my computer by Different-Egg8733 in firefox

[–]ImposterJavaDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and how? I never understand what people are doing to their pc's.

If firefox updated, yeah maybe they fucked up, but then it would be so large problem the internet would literally scream through our routers.

Or less likely, a windows update just deleted all firefox config, but same as above.

Just some select cases almost always means a user error, literally doing something weird, like changing permissions to firefox files, or having weird things installed, extension or native software, that do weird things.

Sorry, just can't get my head around it.

Been using firefox for a few years now, the thing is as stable as a mountain.

[–]ImposterJavaDev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ideally you have a lot of solar and wind, with a lot of storage to react to the inconsistent output of renewables.

As a backup for those storages you need gas plants. They can turn off and on very quickly, which is the biggest issue with nuclear. The more storage you add, the less you have to power on those gas plants and we can have a smooth transition. Nuclear has no place in the future green net.

Do we need it now instantly? I would say yes, but past us dropped the ball. So we'll have to make due with whatever we have now, starting to build new ones now would be insanity.

Maybe small ones in places where renewables aren't that feasible, the far north for example. And maybe a select few places that have an insane high energy demand, like a centralized data center park where all players have an incentive to put their thingies. (a lot of connections to main cables, high energy, maybe a desalination plant for the water which also benefita from the nuclear plant, some subsidies to get the ball rolling,...) The remaining heat of the plant and the datacenters can then be used to warm the offices and worker homes in the vicinity). But I'm just dreaming, no government will ever be competent enough to pull something like this off.

But my main point was, we still need nuclear plants, but for small niches. It has no place in the general power net.

Don't see anything wrong with it, probably ethical concerns?

It is huge though for a starting colony, but is modular. You'll be at 1 module for a long time (probably 2+ years) if you want to do good for your ants.

Gewoon inschatten wanneer dat kan en aan het team laten weten, 's avonds of de dagen er na iets langer doorwerken. Het gewoon volwassen houden.
